Position Description:
Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) is seeking part-time, seasonal instructors for school programs at the Garden. Programs for grades pre–K through 12 include small-group guided tours on-site at the Garden. Topics focus on botany, ethnobotany, gardens, conservation, and plant ecology, and make use of BBG’s plant collections to support the science curriculum of public and nonpublic schools.
 Responsibilities:

<li>Teach pre–K through 12th-grade classes in person with whole-class and small groups in classrooms, Education Greenhouse, and on Garden tours.</li>
<li>Communicate in-person tour logistics among team members.</li>

Job Description:
Portledge School seeks to hire a dynamic, highly skilled Visual Arts educator who is driven to create a classroom environment where student learning is a non-negotiable goal and passion is evident on a daily basis. In addition to acting as the the Middle and Upper School Visual Arts Department Chair, responsibilities include teaching 5 sections of Visual Arts, including an IB Visual Arts class, participating collegially in meetings and initiatives of the Art Department and the Upper School division and taking an active role in the life of the school community. Additional Responsibilities…

As Department Chair, act as a first line leader between faculty and administration by acting as a communications liaison, curriculum leader, pedagogy leader, collaboration facilitator, learning accountability leader, departmental advocate and institutional supporter, and departmental decision maker;

As Department Chair represents their respective department to the administration and strives to maintain the Four Pillars of Portledge within their department;
</li>

Coordinate field trips and off-campus learning opportunities and activities with department members, liaising with administration and other agencies as needed.

Collaborate with the Communications Department, by drafting and approving external communications on behalf of the department.

Manage coverage for Department members who take PTO or are forced to miss class for some reason.

Serve as a member of the Department Chairs Committee and attend regular meetings of Department Chairs.

Qualifications:

Under supervision of the Assistant Director of the Senior Services program, coordinate all educational and recreational activities of older adult center network. Oversight of all funded and non- funded services provided to older adult participants.
Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities:

Position Reporting to this position: None 

Purpose of the position: 
Under the direction of the Head Teacher, the Teacher Aide is responsible for supporting a nurturing environment for children and assisting with classroom curriculam. 

Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Participate in implementing developmentally appropriate curricula encompassing the social/emotional, physical and intellectual needs of Win children. </li>
<li>Follow Win’s philosophy and goals of the Childcare program. </li>
<li>Attend Childcare related trainings onsite and offsite. </li>
<li>Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays and days that NYC schools are closed. </li>
<li>Must be able to escort children to field trips. </li>
<li>Ensure a safe, healthy, culturally diverse and attractive classroom environment. </li>
<li>Adhere to Department of Health and Mental Hygiene policies and procedures. Supervises the classroom when the teacher is out of the room. </li>
<li>Oversees unstructured free play. Works with teachers to ensure organization of free play corresponds to scheduled structured activities. </li>
<li>Assists with meals, toileting, diapering and hand washing. </li>
<li>Performs general housekeeping tasks. </li>
<li>Observes and organizes the classroom, classroom supply areas, playground area and equipment for hazards and keeps the areas neat and sanitary. </li>
<li>Prepare areas for lesson plan implementation of STEM and STEAM activities, assists in making smooth transitions between learning areas. </li>
<li>Perform related duties as assigned in assisting the Head Teacher. </li>

 Essential Functions:

<li>Must be able to lift children on a regular basis. </li>
<li>Must be able to travel to other Win sites to provide Childcare coverage and training using public transportation. </li>
