Team/ Program Overview:
The Foundation is looking for two Legal Interns to join the Legal Team for a full-time, 10-week summer program starting in June 2026. The Legal Interns will support a range of projects throughout their time at the Foundation and will gain exposure to the wide spectrum of work that makes up in-house practice. Work will likely span numerous areas of law including exempt organization law (including applicable federal tax law and state nonprofit law), corporate law, and intellectual property law. The Legal Interns will have an opportunity to work and interact with staff across the Foundation such as program staff, finance, communications, investments, and HR. Additionally, the interns will participate in activities including networking opportunities with peers in the Mellon Summer Intern cohort and legal professionals in the nonprofit sector. 
Position Description:
Responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to the following:

MARJOR FUNCTIONS:
The Peer Specialist is a fully integrated outreach team member who provides linkage and referrals services to recipients with mental health and co-occurring disorders. Because of their personal life experiences with mental health wellness and co-occurring recovery, which demonstrates self-sufficiency, the Peer Specialist provides expertise that other professional training cannot replicate. 
The Peer Specialist will advocate, counsel, educate and find specific resources to refer/link the enrolled recipient(s) to reach their individual goals. The enrollment into the program for referrals/linkages will remain in place for six weeks. Once that timeframe has been reached the individual recipient case will be closed out, however there could be exceptions if the recipient(s) needs further assistance in reaching their individual goal. 
SPECIFIC DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Provide outreach to the community at large in an effort to locate, intake and refer/link recipients to mental health and other services; as outlined in the Recovery/Action Plan (10 recipients a month). </li>
<li>Keep charts updated weekly. Weekly contact with the recipient needs to be documented in the chart in regard to progress, lack there-of or change in objectives, interventions and goals. </li>
<li>Support the recipient(s) in maintaining focus and accomplishment of their identified goals.</li>
<li>Organize and facilitate focus topic wellness group. In these groups’ attendance will be taken and only unduplicated recipients will be counted as a contact monthly. </li>
<li>Assist the Outreach Coordinator or be able to provide presentation of the program at potential or existing sites.</li>
<li>Provide street outreach (tabling) and individual contact in regard to our services as offend as necessary (evenings &amp; weekends). </li>

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Queens Community Justice Center, launched in 2007, runs a diverse portfolio of programs for justice-involved youth, young adults and their families. Programming includes alternative-to-detention programs and leadership, clinical, mentorship, workforce development, gender responsive and family support initiatives. The Justice Center incorporates evidence-based methods for working with high-risk youth, including positive youth development and restorative justice principles, into its programming. Ultimately, the goal of the Justice Center is to provide off-ramps from the justice system, to help participants lead a more meaningful life, and to increase public safety.
The Queens Community Justice Center is seeking a Mentor, Arches Program. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the mentor will be responsible for facilitating group mentoring and interactive journaling sessions for participants in the Department of Probation funded Arches program. Arches is a neighborhood-based transformative mentoring services program for young adults on probation between the ages of 16 and 24 who reside in or adjacent to Jamaica, Queens.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

<li>Facilitate Interactive Journaling sessions focused on skill development and goal setting;</li>
<li>Provide one-on-one mentoring support to participants;</li>
<li>Provide program participants with additional support in achieving Individual Achievement Plan goals as set by&nbsp;Department of Probation&nbsp;(DOP) probation officers;</li>

Candidates should be credible messengers, specially trained adults from Jamaica with backgrounds and characteristics similar to the population served, including life experience, cultural competence, and criminal justice system familiarity. Prior experience with positive youth development, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapies preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally competent manner that is responsive to the needs of urban youth required. Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom is preferred. Additionally, experience utilizing CRM or case management software is preferred. The Activities Coordinator is an integral part of the NORC interdisciplinary team, who will oversee the educational and recreational programming at Knickerbocker Village NORC. This position is to maintain and develop programming that is interesting and culturally appropriate to entice attendance among the older adults at the Knickerbocker Village NORC location. This position is also responsible for advertising programs to the community. This position reports to the Director of Knickerbocker Village NORC.
