Summary: 
New York Edge is seeking a passionate, mission-driven team-builder to fill the After School Program Director role. In this full-time role, you will be accountable for the growth, quality, and success of the assigned after-school program operation, its students, and staff. The primary responsibility of the Program Director is to manage the day-to-day operations to ensure that New York Edge quality standards and guidelines are met and that the program meets all contract requirements. You will foster an atmosphere of fun and learning, utilizing a broad range of sports and arts-related activities where the concept of teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship can flourish and serve as a role model to youth. 
Schedule:
Monday-Friday (Days/shifts vary depending on site needs)
This role requires you to be in person.
 
Pay: 
$58,500 - $62,500 (salary offer will be commensurate with experience and education)
Essential Job Functions:
<ul>
<li>
Oversees program staff, program operations, services, and implements programs and/or processes to provide services within established timeframes and in compliance. 
</li>
<li>
Conducts staff performance evaluations and development plans with the Program Manager and Human Resources Department.
</li>
<li>
Provides weekly and monthly team meetings that encourage opportunities for team feedback and discussions about classroom management, lesson planning, writing prompts, and social-emotional learning.
</li>
<li>
Communicates regularly with supervisor on program updates, progress, and needs. 
</li>
<li>
Coordinates outreach to the community and presents on the program to actively recruit participants.
</li>
<li>
Prepares various documents and reports (e.g., attendance, daily activities, daily program content, program design, etc.) for internal and external reporting.
</li>
<li>
Provides weekly individual supervision to each staff member with feedback, goal setting, and assessment of competencies in the role.
</li>
<li>
Supports all team members, including in-direct reports, and provides feedback as needed.
</li>
<li>
Collaborates with the Program Manager, Borough Director, and New York Edge Curriculum and Training Departments to develop and implement monthly all-staff professional development workshops/seminars.
</li>
<li>
Collaborate with the Principal and Assistant Principals on program delivery to align with goals with student achievement and performance. 
</li>
<li>
Monitors and ensures all program compliance, including but not limited to student registration, staff documents, ratios, attendance tracking, IDs, and building permits. 
</li>
<li>
Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the center and its programs.
</li>
</ul>
 
Education Requirement:
<ul>
<li>
Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work
</li>
<li>
At least 18.0 credit hours from an accredited college or university in the field of Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field preferred
</li>
</ul>
 
Experience Requirement:
<ul>
<li>
Minimum of three (3) years experience in urban education, youth development or community organizing with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. 
</li>
<li>
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with youth &amp; adolescents in New York City. 
</li>
</ul>
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, &amp; Abilities:
<ul>
<li>
Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage priorities and workflow, while maintaining a positive, patient and calm demeanor, and establishing a positive team spirit with staff, students, and entire school community. 
</li>
<li>
 Strong understanding of New York City and New York State education requirements in an urban setting.
</li>
<li>
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person, virtually and over the phone, applying tact and discretion as situations demand
</li>
<li>
Must be able to articulate outcome requirements and provide the necessary and appropriate resources and support for school and New York Edge staff members to successfully deliver on objectives.
</li>
<li>
Knowledge of after-school programs, supervising staff, and program planning.
</li>
<li>
Ability to de-escalate potentially risky or difficult situations. 
</li>
<li>
Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
</li>
</ul>
 
Work Environment &amp; Physical Demands:
<ul>
<li>
Work is performed mostly within a New York City Public School but is required to interact with the community at-large during events, outreach, and trips. 
</li>
<li>
May be required to walk up and down stairs, lift or move objects/materials as needed. 
</li>
<li>
Work hours will be consistent Monday through Friday with potential for some weekend or evening scheduled activities or events.

Position Description:
Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) is seeking part-time, seasonal instructors for school programs at the Garden. Programs for grades pre–K through 12 include small-group guided tours on-site at the Garden. Topics focus on botany, ethnobotany, gardens, conservation, and plant ecology, and make use of BBG’s plant collections to support the science curriculum of public and nonpublic schools.
 Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Teach pre–K through 12th-grade classes in person with whole-class and small groups in classrooms, Education Greenhouse, and on Garden tours.</li>
<li>Communicate in-person tour logistics among team members.</li>
<li>Assist staff with preparing materials.</li>
<li>Set up lesson materials and clean up after each lesson.</li>
<li>Check and respond to emails in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Attend onsite professional development sessions.</li>
<li>Assist with other educational programs/events for varying ages as needed.</li>
</ul>
 
Work Schedule:
Flexible per diem schedule, depending on instructor availability and program registrations: three to five hours per day, two to four days per week. Tuesday–Friday starting at 9 a.m. Three to four days of availability per week is preferable. 
 Qualifications:
