SUMMARY
Extended Day Activity Instructors lead after-school programming for children and teens at New York Edge after-school program sites. The activity instructor will teach or co-lead activities in one of the following areas: STEM, visual art, performing art, literacy, student leadership and character development, sports, health and wellness, business, finance and entrepreneurship, math, media arts, journalism, botany, and urban agriculture, history. The activity instructor has a dual reporting role, supporting the curriculum and instruction department team by designing lesson plans and implementing curricula across New York Edge program sites. Summary
The Summer Student Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting with the upkeep, maintenance, and repairs of The Summit community. The Summer Student Maintenance Assistant helps to maintain and repair basic building functions such as appliances, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, electrical equipment, emergency lighting, interior and exterior building lighting, and building plumbing systems.  Duties include painting, plumbing, maintaining work logs, stocking and organizing the maintenance shop, and keeping machinery and equipment in good working order.  Projecting a customer focused and professional image through interaction with all internal and external customers is essential. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Assist with the moving of all the furniture out of each apartment (stoves, beds, refrigerators, desk, sofa and chairs etc.) </li>
<li>Cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms of each apartment.</li>
<li>Assist with the cleaning and mopping of each trash room along with the removal of trash. </li>
<li>Painting of units and common area lounges and hallways.</li>
<li>Washing walls and doors.</li>
<li>Cleaning carpets and upholstered furniture.</li>
<li>Cleaning and picking up of the interior hallways and exterior of the Summit Apartments.</li>
<li>Cleaning of the Lobby and cleaning and set up of MCR, including bathrooms.</li>
<li>Assist with general preventative maintenance of apartments and spaces within The Summit.</li>
<li>Notify supervisor respond and report situations needing attention.</li>
<li>Participate in training and administrative tasks.</li>
<li>Perform administrative duties in a thorough and timely manner. </li>
<li>Attend all meetings and events as assigned. </li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.</li>
</ul>

Qualifications: 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

<li>High school diploma.</li>
<li>Current student in good standing within the CUNY system.</li>
<li>Demonstrate proficiency in verbal communication.</li>

REPORTS TO: Program Director 
SALARY: $25 - $40 per hour (10 hours per week) 
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, schedule may be modified based on program needs. Open availability needed for School Holidays breaks - schedule is 8:00 am until 6:00 pm. 
JOB SUMMARY: As part of the Youth Services Department’s vision: all Youth Services Staff will assist in promoting growth, leadership and positive self-image in all young people at all of the Grand Street Settlement’s sites. The Education Specialists will promote and develop a safe and engaging learning environment for youth. Homework help, small group tutoring or individualized tutoring, creating literacy and STEM lessons, as well as supervising group leaders’ facilitation of lessons is included as part of the Education Specialist’s scope of work. 
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Education or related fields, preferred. </li>
<li>Must have experience teaching and designing curricula. </li>
<li>Prior experience supervising staff required. </li>
<li>Three (3) or more years of experience and expertise working with youth (volunteer experience is acceptable). </li>
<li>Three (3) or more years of experience coaching, instructing, or facilitating curriculum-based lessons (to youth preferred). </li>
<li>Experience working with youth in grades K-12 required. </li>
<li>The ideal candidate should be personable, energetic, and enthusiastic. </li>
<li>Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with all students and participants while remaining professional at all times. </li>
<li>Ability to motivate the students while setting an example in all areas, including responsibility, timeliness, organization, attendance and most importantly, professionalism. </li>

<li>Develop and coordinate youth development programs as defined through grant contracts and community needs. </li>
<li>Coordinate annual workshop series for college applications and topics including financial aid, scholarships, and personal statement writing. </li>
<li>Evaluate programs to ensure that they meet the needs of the youth and are effective in producing their intended outcomes. </li>
