The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD)invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. Train &amp; Earn, one of DYCDs federally-funded Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs for out-of-school, out-of-work (OSOW) youth in New York City, aims to fund integrated and holistic program models that will strengthen New York Citys (City) workforce development system and help young people gain the support, educational credentials, and skills.
 
THE POSITION
Under the supervision of the Program Senior Manager, the Training Instructor will support the Reel Works mission and the Train &amp; Earn program by developing and delivering engaging training activities that equip program participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the film &amp; TV/media industry. We are looking for an engaging instructor with a strong background in developing and delivering effective training programs. This position will play a vital role in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment, promoting program participant growth and development, and supporting participants in their journey towards career readiness.
 
WHAT YOULL DO
Training Delivery and Facilitation (60%)
<ul>
<li>Support the development and deliver of high-quality, in-person training sessions aligned with program curriculum and industry demands</li>
<li>Coordinate and facilitate training sessions that focus on classroom management and student engagement</li>
<li>Facilitate discussions, answer questions, and provide clear and concise explanations of complex topics to ensure understanding</li>
<li>Develop a centralized teaching method for teaching artist to utilize across all cohorts</li>
</ul>
 
Participant Support and Progress Monitoring (25%)
<ul>
<li>Assess participant progress, identify learning needs, and provide individualized support to help them succeed</li>
<li>Motivate and inspire participants and teaching artist to reach their full potential within the program</li>
<li>Collaborate with program staff, including case managers and the job developer, to create a supportive environment for participants</li>
<li>Monitor and evaluate content delivery ensuring lessons for participants meet program standards</li>
</ul>
 
Administrative and Technical Support (15%)
<ul>
<li>Provide administrative support during in-person sessions (e.g.; taking attendance, distributing and collecting relevant documents, etc)</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records of training activities, participant performance, and relevant documentation</li>
<li>Stay current on industry trends and best practices in training delivery as well as occupational and life skills training</li>
<li>Research and coordinate site visits to media/film companies and guest speaker sessions</li>
</ul>
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
THE SKILLS &amp; EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE
<ul>
<li>3+ years of applicable experience and credentials/certifications in Education; applicable experience supporting young adults in occupational and life skills training, college preparation and enrollment, and/or coordination of training and/or tutoring services</li>
<li>Proven experience developing and delivering effective training programs for young adults that fosters student motivation and participation</li>
<li>Strong facilitation skills with the ability to create an engaging, interactive, positive, and inclusive learning environment</li>
<li>Proficient in Google Apps [Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Hangouts and Mail] and experience with tools such as Zoom and Salesforce</li>
<li>Experience and passion for inclusion and working effectively with a diverse group of people</li>
<li>Skilled at leading professional development training for teaching artists.</li>
</ul>

Requirements: Terminal or advanced degree (master's degree minimum) with professional experience required; College teaching and clinical experience preferred. Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
