The Center's research teams are staffed with social scientists, data analysts, and lawyers who are academically-trained or have lived experience and who conduct research in the U.S. and globally on diverse criminal-legal system and justice issues. Their work includes evaluating programs and policies; conducting exploratory, community-based studies; and providing research translation and strategic planning for system actors. The Center has published studies on topics including court and jail reform, intimate partner violence, restorative justice, gun violence, reentry, sixth amendment rights, and progressive prosecution. The research teams strive to make their work meaningful and actionable to the communities they work with, policymakers, and practitioners.
Policy &amp; Expert Assistance
The Center provides hands-on, planning and implementation assistance to a wide range of jurisdictions in areas of reform such as problem-solving courts (e.g., community courts, treatment courts, domestic violence courts), tribal justice, reducing incarceration and the use of fines/fees and reducing crime and violence. Our current expert assistance takes many forms, including help with analyzing data, strategic planning and consultation, policy guidance, and hosting site visits to its operating programs in the New York City area.&nbsp;
Center Support
A dedicated support team within the Center ensures the smooth functioning of operations across various domains, including finance, legal, technology, human resources, fundraising, real estate, and communications. Comprising 15% of the organization's staff, these teams provide essential infrastructure support and innovative solutions aligned with the Center's mission and values.&nbsp;
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Technology Department is seeking a dynamic Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer with expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure infrastructure management, and cross-platform migration to join our team. We're looking for a skilled professional to architect, implement, and optimize our technology infrastructure, driving cloud adoption while ensuring peak performance, security, and reliability. Reporting to the Infrastructure and Cloud Manager, this role is crucial in supporting the Center’s overall goals and requires collaboration with team members to deliver exceptional IT solutions.&nbsp;
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Strategic Planning and Implementation:
<ul>
<li>Develop and execute comprehensive infrastructure and cloud strategies aligned with the Center’s goals;</li>
<li>Design, implement, and optimize hybrid and multi-cloud solutions, including Azure services, virtual machines, and Microsoft 365 applications, to enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness; and</li>
<li>Conduct ongoing evaluation of cloud technologies and industry trends to inform strategic roadmap development.</li>
</ul>
Infrastructure Management and Optimization:
<ul>
<li>Manage and optimize the technology infrastructure, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, and Azure resources&nbsp;to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization;</li>
<li>Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical data; and</li>
<li>Perform capacity planning and performance tuning to optimize system efficiency and responsiveness.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
Security and Compliance:
<ul>
<li>Implement and enforce comprehensive security frameworks and access controls across Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premises systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR);</li>
<li>Monitor and respond to security threats and incidents, taking appropriate actions to mitigate risks; and</li>
<li>Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement remediation measures.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
User Support and Management:
<ul>
<li>Manage user accounts, licenses, and policies to ensure appropriate access levels&nbsp;and permissions;</li>
<li>Provide technical support for Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and cross-platform collaboration tools, addressing issues while ensuring data integrity and security; and</li>
<li>Collaborate with end-users and key stakeholders to identify and implement technology solutions that improve productivity and enhance the user experience.</li>
</ul>
Automation and Scripting:&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Develop and maintain scripts and automation workflows in Microsoft Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps, and Intune to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency; and</li>
<li>Leverage automation frameworks to streamline infrastructure management, reducing manual effort in areas such as license management, security compliance, and monitoring.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
Project Management and Collaboration:
<ul>
<li>Contribute to infrastructure and cloud projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals;</li>
<li>Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve shared objectives and provide support as needed;</li>
<li>Participate in performance reviews and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge; and&nbsp;</li>
<li>Additional tasks as necessary.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications: &nbsp; Required Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;&nbsp;</li>
<li>3-5&nbsp;years of experience in infrastructure management, including a minimum of 3 years managing cloud services within Microsoft 365 and Azure, with hands-on expertise in both on-premises and cloud solutions;</li>
<li>Proven experience with cross-platform migrations, including between Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Azure environments;</li>
<li>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID administration&nbsp;including a deep understanding of Microsoft Intune for device management;</li>
<li>In-depth knowledge of Azure services, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, networking, disaster recovery, and security solutions;</li>
<li>Expert-level technical skills in operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), networking (TCP/IP, routing, switching), Azure Network Security Groups (NSG), virtualization (Hyper-V, Azure Virtual Desktop), cloud configuration, Azure resource management (VMs, Storage Accounts, Virtual Networks), and backup/disaster recovery solutions;</li>
<li>Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation tools, such as Microsoft Power Automate;</li>
<li>Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues within Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; and</li>
<li>Excellent communication and documentation skills.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Industry-recognized certifications in Microsoft 365 Administration, Azure, and Security Compliance;</li>
<li>Experience with Google Workspace administration, user management, security, and policy enforcement;</li>
<li>Proficiency in Python and Kusto Query Language (KQL);</li>
<li>Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS); and</li>
<li>Prior experience working in the nonprofit sector.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
Position Type:&nbsp;Full-time.
Position Location:&nbsp;Midtown, Manhattan, 2-3 days a week in person required.
Compensation:&nbsp;The compensation range for this position is $95,500 - $120,000 and is commensurate with experience.&nbsp;The Center for Justice Innovation offers an excellent benefits package including comprehensive healthcare with a national network, free basic&nbsp;dental coverage, vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, and flexible spending accounts including commuter FSA.
