Join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a 6-bed unit providing high-acuity care to the most critically ill patients. With a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio, our team ensures that each patient receives focused, compassionate, and expert care, especially in times of greatest need.
Nurses in the ICU are equipped to handle a wide range of life-threatening conditions, including respiratory failure, sepsis, post-surgical recovery, and more. The small size of the unit allows for a tight-knit, supportive team atmosphere, where collaboration and specialized care are paramount.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care

Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).

Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation.

Across our 60+ locations, we provide programs in a variety of service areas, including workforce development, children, youth, families, seniors and homeless prevention.  
BronxWorks Older Adult Center Kitchens provide healthy and flavorful meals to older adult center participants. The menus meet the Department of The Aging nutrition guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Abide by Department of Health and OSHA regulations regarding kitchen hygiene and maintenance.</li>
<li>Assist with weighing in, receiving and proper storage of food. </li>
<li>Participate in menu planning.</li>
<li>Prepare food under the direction of the Kitchen Manager.</li>
<li>Assist with safe handling and proper temperature control of prepared foods.</li>
<li>Assist with proper functioning and cleaning of kitchen and kitchen equipment, dining areas, and adherence to sanitation standards.</li>
<li>Assist with packaging and delivery of meals to satellite offices.</li>
<li>Maintain food usage records and assist in taking monthly inventory.</li>
<li>Help coordinate activities of staff engaged in food preparation, meal service and cleanup.</li>
<li>Attend relevant BronxWorks training.</li>
<li>Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.</li>
<li>Also assist in other sites if necessary.</li>
</ul>
QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or equivalent credentials preferred.</li>
<li>Valid Safe Food Handlers’ Certificate or ability to obtain certificate within 3-6 months of employment.</li>
<li>Experience working in a setting responsible for managing and providing (breakfast, snack, and supper) meals based on required standards in a congregate setting is preferred.</li>
<li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment required.</li>
<li>Proficiency in safe operation of all kitchen equipment and Department of Health Regulations.</li>
<li>Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.</li>
<li>Experience working in a team environment is preferred.</li>
<li>Familiarity with a variety of cultural recipes and preparations preferred.</li>
<li>Reliability and being highly responsible is a must .</li>
</ul>
 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 
<ul>
<li>Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.</li>
<li>Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.</li>
<li>Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.</li>
<li>Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.</li>
<li>Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.</li>
<li>Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.</li>
<li>Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.</li>
<li>Also assist at other sites if necessary.</li>
