JOB TITLE: Safety Security Officer
FLSA: Non-Exempt 
DIVISION: Operations 
REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor 
LOCATION: All boroughs, NYC 
SALARY: $19.65 hourly
 
SUMMARY:
The Safety Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all clients, staff, and the property at a homeless shelter. Operations within our facility are 24 hours. This is a relief position that requires face-to-face relief with mandated overtime. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager.

DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Perform daily inspections of all clients’ rooms</li>
<li>Escort clients to appointments as needed</li>
<li>Interact with and monitor clients' behavior, maintaining a good rapport by providing excellent customer service. Encourage clients to comply with the facility's policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Control access at the main entrance by screening all clients and visitors with a magnetometer or x-ray machine to detect and prevent weapons from entering the site. </li>
<li>Perform Crisis Intervention to de-escalate potential crises and document all such situations and interventions.</li>
<li>Make hourly rounds throughout the entire facility, including all hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchen, and office spaces.</li>
<li>Respond to incidents</li>
<li>Assist with client intakes</li>
<li>Perform daily pack-ups and logging of client property belonging to AWOL clients</li>
<li>Store and remove client property once the mandated storage time has expired</li>
<li>Maintain a clean and organized storage area</li>
<li>Complete logs, incident reports, and all other required documentation.</li>
<li>Make calls to police, fire department, and other first responders as directed.</li>
<li>Perform administrative and receptionist duties at the operations desk; monitor video surveillance cameras, and the fire prevention/detection alarm notification system. </li>
<li>Provide duties related to fire incidents, evacuation of the building when necessary, and utilizing Fire procedures.</li>
<li>Ensure the safety and security of all assigned equipment.</li>
<li>Mandated overtime</li>
<li>Perform other tasks as assigned.</li>
</ul>

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED. Prior security experience required. Must have NYS Security Guard License and current 8-Hour Annual Certificate. Fire Guard License for Shelters preferred F02. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred. Must be able to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime if necessary.

 As a Security Guard - Unarmed Post - Weekdays&nbsp;in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol assigned shelter locations, helping to deter security-related incidents and providing a visible presence. Your role includes conducting routine patrols, interacting with residents and staff, and delivering outstanding customer service. What You'll Do:
<ul>
<li>Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, as well as responding to emergency situations when appropriate.</li>
<li>Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following Allied Universal protocols.</li>
<li>Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify potential concerns.</li>
<li>Observe and report any unusual activity or potential hazards within the location to the appropriate personnel.</li>
<li>Maintain a visible presence to help to deter potential disturbances and provide reassurance to staff, residents, and visitors.</li>
<li>Support shelter staff by assisting with access control and monitoring entry and exit points as required.</li>
<li>Document incidents and daily activities in accordance with Allied Universal and site-specific guidelines.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Requirements:
<ul>
<li>At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.</li>
<li>Customer service experience is preferred.</li>
<li>Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.</li>
<li>Access control or badge experience is preferred.</li>
<li>Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.</li>
<li>Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.</li>
