It is conceivable that a Chess Registered Nurse may start their shift in one unit and then based on a change in census and acuity be transferred or moved to a different unit to meet operational requirements. While working within a nursing unit the Chess Registered Nurse acts as a patient advocate and facilitates communication between the patient, family, and other healthcare professionals. This results I a holistic approach to planning, organizing, teaching and relationship development that best meets the needs of the patient.
 
Roles and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing plan considering the patient and family's individual, cultural, ethnic, and religious values and beliefs</li>
<li>Provide patient education for diagnostic procedures, medical conditions and treatment plans</li>
<li>Provide nursing care utilizing defined competencies and skills to areas assigned.</li>
<li>Demonstrates an aptitude and willingness to learn new responsibilities </li>
<li>Excellent organization, interpersonal, and customer service skills</li>
<li>Ability to work independently, make decisions, meet deadlines, multi-task and solve problems</li>
<li>Will be designated to train and work in various areas of facility providing safe &amp; therapeutic patient care</li>
<li>Requires excellent communication skills, pleasant demeanor and positive attitude</li>
<li>Able to work well with others in a teamwork environment.</li>
<li>This position is 3 shifts per week 7pm-7am</li>
</ul>
 
Required Skills and Experience:
<ul>
<li>Associates of Applied Science in Nursing</li>
<li>Current NYS RN license</li>
<li>BLS for all units and some may require ACLS and/or PALS</li>
</ul>
 
Preferred Skills and Experience:
<ul>
<li>Previous critical care experience</li>
</ul>
 
Physical Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Repetitive use of hands and fingers (g. use of the computer keyboard) light lifting in regards to patient care. Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time as it pertains to patient care. Must be physically able to operate the equipment used for the job.</li>
</ul>

Pay Range Disclosure:
<ul>
<li>$39.63 to $48.18 per hour</li>
