ABOUT THE ROLE:
As our first Principal Solutions Engineer at Talon.One, you will be leading enterprise-level API integrations. This newly created role focuses exclusively on delivering these complex integrations, which often span over a year due to their complexity. You will lead the charge on these initiatives, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams while acting as a trusted advisor to ensure customer success. While you won't have direct reports, you'll be in a unique position to mentor and share your expertise with the US &amp; EMEA Technical Account Management (TAM) team, shaping both technical and project management best practices. This is a rare opportunity to make a significant impact, allowing you the freedom to define the role while driving excellence in integrations.
This is a remote role; however, you must be located within commuting distance of one of our hubs: New York, Denver, or Boston.
This role also requires occasional travel, estimated at 10%-20% of the time.
ONCE YOU ARE HERE YOU WILL:

<li>Serve as a trusted advisor to enterprise customers, offering tailored solutions and long-term architectural strategies</li>
<li>Lead the design, development, and implementation of large-scale API integrations, ensuring alignment with customer goals, platform capabilities, and industry best practices</li>
<li>Collaborate with implementation partners and system integrators (SIs) to ensure solution architectures are technically sound and in the customer's best interest</li>
<li>Drive project planning for enterprise-level integrations, including scope definition, resource allocation, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination</li>
<li>Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize API integrations, ensuring performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability post-launch, using tools like Postman, Swagger, and API gateways</li>
<li>Evaluate integration outcomes and partner performance, delivering actionable insights for internal teams and future engagement strategies</li>
<li>Mentor Technical Account Managers on API architecture, integration tooling, and project execution, enhancing team-wide technical depth</li>

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO BRING TO THE TABLE:
<ul>
<li>5+ years in a technical consulting, solutions architecture, or developer/contractor role, ideally with direct experience integrating API-driven SaaS platforms for enterprise clients</li>
<li>Familiarity with API technologies and tools such as REST, SOAP, OAuth, JSON/XML, Postman, Swagger (OpenAPI), and middleware platforms like Workato, Mulesoft, or Zapier</li>
<li>Proven ability to lead complex technical projects, managing multiple stakeholders, risks, and deliverables in a structured, detail-oriented way</li>
<li>Strong architectural understanding of modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and scalable SaaS systems</li>
<li>Experience with Commerce Stacks, Consumer Data Platforms, and Consumer Engagement Platforms is a big plus</li>
<li>Experience in Retail, CPG, Travel, Telco, or Delivery Services is beneficial</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences</li>

JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Mechanical Engineer will develop engineering designs and plans in compliance with West Valley Demonstration Project Engineering Program requirements and provide mechanical engineering support to operational organizations on site. About The Team:
The Horizons Team is part of CookUnity's Marketplace Zone, which focuses on creating a seamless and scalable platform that connects chefs with consumers. The Horizons Team is at the forefront of exploring and enabling different business and ordering models—from on‑demand meals to subscription boxes—to unlock future revenue streams and customer journeys. This team is in charge of the creative, experimental user experiences in the frontend, as well as the complex and crucial backend of subscription management and order processing. 
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Horizons Team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving technical excellence and architecture evolution, mentoring and coaching engineers, and ensuring timely delivery of projects that create meaningful business impact. You will lead a high-performing team of passionate engineers, partnering with Product and Design to deliver exceptional user experiences.
You'd be expected to go to our Brooklyn office one week per month.
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Lead a team of web, mobile, and backend engineers.</li>
<li>Provide technical and architectural guidance, actively contributing to technical decisions, participating in code reviews, and collaborating on implementation while establishing a forward-looking strategy for architecture evolution to support scalability and business goals.</li>
<li>Define and refine team processes, including agile methodologies, to prioritize, plan, and execute projects effectively.</li>
<li>Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, QA, and other stakeholders; facilitate clear and effective communication between engineering teams and other departments.</li>
<li>Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent, creating an environment where individuals can grow and thrive.</li>
<li>Strategically allocate resources, including personnel and tools, to optimize project execution and ensure deadlines are consistently met.</li>
<li>Deliver high-impact projects on time, maintaining a balance between rapid delivery and long-term system quality and reliability.</li>
<li>Establish and oversee quality assurance processes to uphold high standards in product development and deployment.</li>
<li>Manage tech debt proactively to maintain a scalable and maintainable system.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Requirements:
<ul>
<li>2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager leading a high-performing, cross-functional team.</li>
<li>Hands-on experience at production scale and proficiency in parts of our tech stack — React, TypeScript, Backend-for-Frontend APIs, Node.JS, Kotlin, Postgres/MySQL, AWS, React Native.</li>
<li>Demonstrated expertise with agile methodologies and a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle.</li>
<li>Strong English communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.</li>
<li>Proven ability to design and guide scalable, resilient, and maintainable system architectures.</li>
<li>Track record of coaching and mentoring engineers, leveraging feedback as a tool for growth and improvement.</li>
<li>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment, adapting to changes and helping team members build resilience.</li>
</ul>
Preferred Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Experience in B2C with marketplace platforms, e-commerce, or related industries.</li>
<li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.</li>
</ul>

Compensation All final pay rates will be determined by candidates experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.Pay Range for this position$176,000—$192,000 USD
