A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric clinical services for patients. Performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards. A Nurse Practitioner, under the direction of the of a physician, is responsible for planning, evaluating and delivering the health care of patients on assigned service. Emphases preventative health measures and education of patients. She/he will perform other duties as assigned and in compliance with systems and job specific standards. Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking Full-Time Nurse Practitioner to join our team supporting the Yonkers Park Care site. A Nurse Practitioner, under the direction of the of a physician, is responsible for planning, evaluating and delivering the health care of patients on assigned service. Emphases preventative health measures and education of patients. She/he will perform other duties as assigned and in compliance with systems and job specific standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a Nurse Practitioner:

<li>Takes histories, performs physical examinations, gives immunizations (as necessary) and does patient education and counseling.</li>
<li>Orders appropriate lab work, draws blood for lab work if needed, and performs some lab tests such as wet prep microscopic exams.</li>
<li>Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses, and consults with physician regarding medication, chronic illness and referrals when appropriate.</li>
<li>Maintains legible and appropriate documentation and reviews records periodically. Does follow-up of abnormal pap smears and reportable STD's.</li>
<li>Attends case conferences involving patients.</li>
<li>Attends continuing education programs to increase skills and knowledge.</li>
<li>Attends provider meetings and participates in quality improvement programs and team assignments.</li>
<li>Identifies and categorizes each patient's age-specific grouping of needs, such as those infants, adolescent, or geriatric patients.</li>
<li>Follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines endorsed by department, organization, and overseen by Infection Control Officer.</li>
<li>Provides safe and successful performance, including meeting productivity, quality and patient satisfaction standards.</li>

 Minimum Education Requirement: Master's Degree Minimum Work Related Experience: 5-8 years; 4 years of business office experience, preferably in a large medical practice with increasing levels of responsibility. Preferred Work Experience: 8+ Years Minimum Licensure: Valid license as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State and CPR/BLS Required Skills &amp; Knowledge: - Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures that nurse practitioners are trained to do and are necessary for practicing in health care centers. - Competence in delivery of health care to patients (including preventative health education) - Ability to collaborate with other members of the Health Center in order to maintain high quality standards and achieve client satisfaction. - Bilingual in both English and Spanish (orally and written) is preferred Sun River Health is a network of over 40 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) providing primary, dental, pediatric, OB-GYN, and behavioral health care to over 245,000 patients annually.
