Role Summary:
The Outdoor Adventure Course Director position at NYC Outward Bound Schools involves overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of courses to ensure high-quality, safe inclusive, and empowering educational experiences for all students over the course of a season. The Course Director is responsible for coordinating course logistics, ensuring appropriate staffing for each course/program, ensuring adherence to organizational design principles, maintaining course safety, and instructing students on course. The Course Director provides mentorship and support to instructors, facilitates debriefing and feedback sessions, and contributes to the development of instructional staff. Additionally, the Course Director plays a role in client relationship management by coordinating information with schools and creating plans to meet the students’ needs. This position requires both remote, overnight work on outdoor courses in NY State and urban adventures in NYC as well as work in the NYC Outward Bound Schools’ headquarters office in Long Island City (Queens). Essential Functions:

We serve youth who have dropped out of high school, are pregnant or parenting, receiving foster care services, are engaged with the juvenile justice system, experiencing homelessness, had an IEP in high school, reside in high poverty areas, or who are unemployed. Position and Department Details: Commonpoint is seeking to hire a Licensed Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who will provide guidance and support to the Opportunity Youth participants for Train &amp; Earn and staff. The Director of Supportive Services will be responsible for connecting participants to needed resources, assisting with referrals, providing crisis intervention for participants, and supervising Case Managers and Social Work Interns.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Supportive Services for Opportunity Youth will:
● Identify participants’ needs and facilitate community partnerships to help develop resources.
● Maintain a referral tracker to monitor participants’ barriers and progress in referral processes.

● Provide short term counseling to participants waiting for referrals.
