Under the direct supervision of the Center Director, the Assistant Teacher shall be responsible for:

<li>Child Growth &amp; Development: Implements a child-centered curriculum to its fidelity and learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities. </li>
<li>Planning: Responsible for collaborating with the Lead Teacher in the preparation of daily lesson plans and individualization for children. Collect daily anecdotes and write observations for children. Assess children with Teaching Strategies Gold online three times a year</li>
<li>Program Implementation: Provide positive guidance and discipline supporting children as they acquire readiness skills for kindergarten and beyond</li>
<li>Family Partnerships: Encourage parent participation in staff-parent conferences and home visits discussing their child’s development and education</li>
<li>Communication and Service Coordination: Maintain regular contact with parents and complete appropriate documentation; Direct developmental concerns to the Health, Nutrition and Disabilities Coordinator</li>
<li>Record Keeping and Reporting: Request supplies as needed and participate in classroom/program inventory as requested </li>
<li>On-going Monitoring and Self-Assessment: Work with teaching team to analyze child outcomes on a classroom basis two- three times a year </li>
<li>Collaborate with family advocate and coordinators in providing high quality comprehensive services</li>
<li>Participate in coaching opportunities and professional development training development</li>
<li>Ability to lift 35 pounds</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned</li>

JOB SUMMARY: This position serves as a Teacher’s Aide/Substitute as needed for Grand Street Settlement Early Childhood classrooms. Responsible for assisting with the supervision of all children, implementing classroom activities, works cooperatively with and supporting other classroom staff and volunteers, and assists with the general maintenance of the classroom to insure the health and safety of the children of the program.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

<li>Minimum – High School Diploma or equivalence, some college credits preferred </li>
<li>At least one year experience working with children ages 0-5 and families </li>
<li>Ability to work with children and families with special developmental, social or cultural needs</li>

<li>Ability to interpret documents such as safety regulations, policies and procedures</li>

In this role, you will supervise and provide direct services with a focus on recovery on a mobile, multi-disciplinary treatment team for persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Our Forensic Assertive Community Treatment teams provide a full suite of treatment to individuals in recovery from serious mental illness and involved in the criminal justice system. FACT services aim to prevent relapse, teach valuable life skills, provide assistance, and connect individuals with essential resources so they can focus on stabilization and thrive in the community. As a part of our FACT team, you’ll be working as a collaborative, mobile, multi-disciplinary treatment team, both in the office and in the community. 
QUALIFICATIONS: Lived experience relevant to the client population. Current NYS license as a Peer Specialist and/or Youth Peer Advocate. A valid and clean New York State driver's license. Minimum 1 year of experience in a treatment or rehabilitation setting. Fingerprinting, criminal record check, and approval from the NYS Office of Mental Health.
