DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supported by funding from the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), InnovateEDU works with the Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School in downtown Brooklyn to provide next-generation educational services. We offer an extended learning day through our middle school after-school program, providing engaging workshops in STEM, Arts, Music, and Athletics that prepare students with the academic foundation, digital literacy, and leadership skills necessary to succeed in college and professional life.
 
About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our middle school team as an Afterschool Arts &amp; Crafts Instructor. This position is responsible for creating, implementing, and managing daily activities to help our participants develop the skills and qualities that will make them leaders in their school and community. Afterschool Instructors draw on their background to facilitate daily workshops in their area of expertise. A successful candidate will bring previous teaching experience and self-initiative to this position, and will have the opportunity to get creative in constructing daily workshops.
 
This is a part-time, in-person position, working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, Wednesday from 12:00 to 4:00 pm, and additional training hours and Saturdays as needed. Activities will be on-site at the Brooklyn Lab campuses in Downtown Brooklyn. The hourly rate is $25/hr.

uAspire College Affordability Advisors work directly with youth to help them navigate the process of finding and financing an affordable path to college. We primarily support students who are low-income, students of color, and/or first-generation college students.&nbsp;
We are currently hiring a College Affordability Advisor to join our Postsecondary (Succeed) team in the New York City area. Advisors primarily support students through our innovative text-messaging platform, providing timely, personalized guidance on college affordability. In addition to virtual support, advisors also participate in occasional in-person events across the five boroughs. All advisors receive comprehensive training to help students complete financial aid forms, research scholarships, and interpret financial aid award letters.
This position requires a highly motivated individual with a passion for young people, a commitment to continuous learning about navigating the college access and success process, someone who is comfortable working independently, and who enjoys leveraging data and technology to support student success will be a strong fit in this role. Your Role as a Special Education Teacher:
<ul>
<li>Lead Classroom Instruction &amp; Planning - Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons each week in alignment with student needs and team input; contribute to team reviews with observations, concerns, and ideas.</li>
<li>Support Team Collaboration - Meet regularly with classroom staff to address challenges, align on plans, and ensure smooth team functioning.</li>
<li>Develop Individualized Goals - Create and maintain treatment plans based on the DIRFloortime® model, targeting each student's developmental profile and goals.</li>
<li>Coach and Supervise Classroom Staff - Provide ongoing coaching and training to teaching assistants and paraprofessionals; conduct annual performance evaluations.</li>
<li>Monitor Student Progress - Participate in IEP meetings and share insights on current levels of functioning; document progress through biannual reports, biweekly family updates, and entrance summaries for new students.</li>
<li>Partner with Families - Maintain open and regular communication with families to ensure alignment on student needs, goals, and progress.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Team - Work alongside educators, therapists, and clinical staff to deliver comprehensive and coordinated support to each student. </li>

Qualifications:

<li>Minimum of bachelor's degree in special education with plan to continue with master's degree</li>
<li>Teacher Certification</li>
<li>Passion for Special Education through patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students with special needs succeed. </li>

<li>Knowledge of DIRFloortime® is preferred, but not required.</li>
