Job Overview

The Peer Specialist will provide supportive services to members with Serious Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Disorder History. The Peer Specialist will function as a role model to peers: exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills, serving as a consumer advocate, and providing consumer information and peer support for clients in outpatient and inpatient settings. The Peer Specialist will perform a wide range of tasks to assist peers of all ages, from young adult to old age, in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process. This position will function as part of the interdisciplinary team designed to meet needs of both CORE and HARP members.
Job Description
<ul>
<li>Assist clients in articulating personal goals for recovery by conducting one-to-one sessions. During these sessions the Peer Counselor will support clients in identifying and creating goals and developing recovery plans with the skills, strengths, supports and resources to aid them in achieving those goals.</li>
<li>Assist clients in working with their primary MetroPlusHealth Behavioral Health Care Manager and overall community treatment team in determining the steps he/she needs to take to achieve their goals and self-directed recovery.</li>
<li>Complete HRA Housing applications and assist with Supportive Housing placements. Escorting members when appropriate to scheduled housing interviews.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assist with arranging transportation to and from scheduled PCP Medical Appointments.</li>
<li>Lead as well as teach members how to facilitate Recovery Dialogues and overcome relapse fears.</li>
<li>Support members working with assigned Parole Officers when they may be on Probation.</li>

<li>Assist clients in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy. This will be accomplished through regular meetings, individual or group sessions. Through the use of role&nbsp;playing/modeling techniques the Peer Specialist provides opportunities for others to show/demonstrate how they have handled similar problems, how to present themselves in certain situations, or how to handle problems that may arise in interactions with others.</li>
<li>With assistance from the Behavioral Health Care Manager Team Lead, the Peer Specialist will work with the members and other treatment team staff to develop a treatment/recovery plan based on each member’s identified goals. Treatment/Recovery Plans will be reviewed and signed by Team Leader and other participating treatment team staff.</li>

Minimum Qualifications

THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented person to join our team as a Prior Authorization Specialist. Our Prior Authorization Specialist is responsible for accurately identifying retinal injectable patients. This includes counseling and registering patients, confirming patient eligibility, and obtaining pre-authorizations for upcoming retinal injection appointments. You’ll play a vital role in the patients’ experience with OCLI.
OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU

<li>Review appointments to confirm that correct injections are booked in appropriate timeframe.</li>
<li> Follow up on status of patient copay assistance.</li>
<li> Confirm the results of Benefits Investigation (BI) and entering pertinent information into patient chart.</li>
<li> Confirming status of patient eligibility and approval for copayment assistance.</li>
<li> Maintain proper inventory.</li>
<li> Assist with tracking patients who have been approved and have copayment assistance cards and applying funds to charges within PM system.</li>
<li> Other duties may be assigned as needed. </li>
</ul>
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
<ul>
<li>You have a High school diploma or equivalent</li>
<li>You have a minimum of Two years experience in medical office; billing and collections experience preferred</li>
<li>Ophthalmic Coding Specialist certification is a plus</li>
<li>You have excellent communication and follow up skills</li>
<li>You're organized, detail oriented and can easily multi-task</li>
<li>You have an understanding of Medical billing, coding, and insurances</li>
<li>You're a team player</li>

RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>Provide instruction utilizing rigorous lessons aligned with the Common Core</li>
<li>Commit to internalizing provided curriculum to prepare every student for high school graduation and success in a four-year college or university</li>
<li>Facilitate student learning and differentiation and embody our inclusion for all model by utilizing differentiation and small group instruction to get results</li>
<li>Utilize formative and summative assessments to inform and improve instruction</li>
<li>Lead and own results of advisories that target the social emotional needs of our scholars</li>
</ul>
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul>
<li>A Bachelors Degree in the subject area to be taught (Masters Degree preferred)</li>
<li>Certification to teach in New York State or, willingness to become certified</li>
<li>A proven record of academic achievement, as a student and an educator</li>
<li>At least two years of experience working with students</li>
<li>Experience teaching in urban and/or low-income areas preferred</li>
<li>Commitment to LABs mission and vision for excellence</li>
<li>A growth mindset and the ability to work as part of a team</li>
<li>Comfort with accountability and the ability to absorb feedback for the development of your craft and the scholars in your care</li>
</ul>
 
Whenever possible, LAB seeks to hire teachers certified in special education and/or teaching English to speakers of other languages, in addition to the subject they teach, to provide additional support to students with special needs and/or limited English proficiency.
 
COMPENSATION
Salary range: $67,789 - $104,578, commensurate with experience, education, and certification.
