Position Summary 
The Adult Homes Initiative is designed to provide peer support services to people transitioning from adult homes into the community through individual and group peer support meetings. Employees will use their lived experience to bridge individuals from Adult Homes into their desired communities in the five boroughs. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

<li>Offer positive, supportive peer relationships that foster trust and hope for positive change, choice, wellness, recovery, and personal empowerment</li>
<li>Present a positive example of a person with lived experience who has been successful at managing their own recovery by actively investing in/maintaining their personal wellness</li>
<li>Provide one-on-one and/or group support and continued short-term-support services following relocation</li>
<li>Teach community adjustment and wellness self-management skills</li>
<li>Assist with developing a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)</li>
<li>Help identify and/or re-engage with family, friends, and other natural supports</li>
<li>Provide education and resources that support wellness self-management, self-determination, and self-advocacy</li>
<li>Continue with individuals after transition to identify and engage with a range of community-based services and supports</li>
<li>Complete detailed written record of activities in a timely and accurate manner</li>
<li>Report to and meet with supervisor on a regularly scheduled basis</li>
<li>Attend training and meeting as required and assigned by supervisor, funder and BSAEH</li>
<li>Strong understanding and practice of peer support, recovery, wellness, and related services</li>
<li>Possess strong engagement, and oral and written communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to travel and work afternoons, evenings and weekends </li>
<li>Peers may be required to cover different homes in the designated borough as needed</li>

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

<li>New York State Certified Peer Specialists - or must be certified within 6 months of hiring </li>
<li>Demonstrate experience with and knowledge of the New York State mental health and substance abuse systems </li>
<li>Demonstrate knowledge of advocacy, self-help, and empowerment programs for recipients of mental health and substance abuse services </li>

High School English Teacher About the American Dream School The American Dream School (ADS) is a dual-language (Spanish/English) 6th to 12th-grade middle and high school in the Mott Haven area of the South Bronx. We offer a project-based program, in tandem with our innovative dual-language approach, that supports our students in becoming bilingual and biliterate. The mission of the American Dream School is to develop academic excellence in both Spanish and English, preparing students to excel in college and become leaders in their communities.
About the Position The American Dream School is seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) motivated, and engaging teacher who is committed to serving English Language Learners and cultivating bilingualism and biliteracy. The ideal candidate has a passion for both reading and history. He/she will see this position as an opportunity to teach high schoolers not only how to become successful readers but how to actually enjoy history. This candidate will be able to create an environment where abstract concepts and discussion are obtainable for all students (including a large ELL population) and be able to merge historical content with modern themes in today’s literature.
Responsibilities
Classroom Preparation
<ul>
<li>Create instructional lesson plans and activities that cultivate active engagement and a meaningful learning experience</li>
<li>Assess changing curricular needs and implement plans for improvement</li>
<li>Distribute materials and assist in other time management/organizational duties</li>
<li>Type, file, and duplicate materials</li>
</ul>
Teaching Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Building a classroom culture in which students love literature</li>
<li>Teaching students to engage with compelling and complex texts</li>
<li>Instructing grammar, style, vocabulary, and rhetoric through scholar writing of authentic creative and informative pieces</li>
<li>Guide students in preparing to be successful on NYS Common Core English Regents Exam</li>
<li>Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups</li>
<li>Assist in the distribution, collection, and grading of tests and homework assignments</li>
<li>Observe students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress</li>
<li>Participate in teacher-parent conferences regarding students’ progress or problems</li>
<li>Provide extra assistance to students with special needs including physical help</li>
<li>Attend and participate in staff meetings</li>
<li>Create meaningful interim assessments that will help drive instruction</li>
</ul>
Classroom Management Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Supervise and manage students in all spaces, upholding ADS core values, rules and policies</li>
<li>Instruct, maintain, and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and material</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records and create reports</li>
</ul>
Additional Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Assist with breakfast/lunch duties</li>
<li>Follow a co-teaching model</li>
<li>Create and maintain bulletin boards to showcase student work</li>
<li>Access students’ DRA level quarterly</li>
<li>Perform other assigned duties</li>
</ul>
Special Education Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Create an annual goal for students’ IEP</li>
<li>Implement and track the progress of annual goals of students’ IEPs as it pertains to your content area</li>
<li>Write progress reports (Present levels of Performance) for students as requested</li>
<li>Participate in yearly IEP conferences</li>
<li>Establish appropriate modifications and goals for each student</li>
</ul>
Position Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Demonstrates punctuality and reliability, fostering accountability in teaching responsibilities and contributing to a positive, professional work environment.</li>
<li>Bilingual Spanish/English; preferred</li>
<li>New York State Teaching Certification in Special Education 7-12, required. (Accepts active US State Teaching Certifications)</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills;</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality and meets deadlines, complete assignments with consistent accuracy;</li>
<li>Tech-savvy; familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google docs/drive;</li>
<li>Effective verbal, writing and listening skills.</li>
</ul>
Salary is commensurate with Education, Years of Experience, and New York State Teacher Certification Status.
