Job Duties:

Adjunct faculty position with teaching responsibilities in the Massage Therapy program. 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Responsible to the Director of the Massage Therapy program.

The faculty consists of all individuals in the employ of Northeast College holding academic rank and engaged in instructional, scholarly and professional, or academic service activities for the College. These activities include, but are not limited to: laboratory, classroom, online, and health center instruction; work of professional librarians; course and curriculum development; research; participation in student advising, enrollment management functions, College governance; and service to one’s profession.

<li>Each instructor is responsible for planning and presenting course material; establishing course objectives and requirements, and communicating them to students; selecting and ordering texts and supplemental materials; preparing, administering and grading papers and examinations; and assigning grades without discrimination, in accordance with the nondiscrimination policy as it appears in the College catalog.</li>
<li>Specific responsibilities include providing students with appropriate, current course material consistent with the overall curriculum; assuring student comprehension and competency; and providing unbiased outcome assessments.</li>
<li>Demonstrates mastery of the following characteristics and traits: command and analytical approach to subject matter, recognition and evaluation of variant interpretations of appropriate data, and integration of current knowledge within the field into traditionally accepted subject matter.</li>
<li>Clearly explain expectations and subject matter, recognize student levels of comprehension, define objectives, summarize major points, organize material logically, and emphasize important ideas. </li>

<li>Faculty who supervise clinical experiences must adhere to policies and procedures for delivering patient care.</li>

QUALIFICATIONS:

<ul>
<li>Possess a New York State authorized certification in the field in which they are teaching from an accredited or New York State authorized institution.</li>
<li>Possess additional evidence-informed knowledge and education through participation in professional development, continuing education, and similar activities.</li>
<li>Faculty who teach in the massage therapy methods and technique classes must be licensed to practice as a Massage Therapist in New York State for a minimum of three years in accordance with New York State requirements for massage therapy instruction. </li>
<li>Faculty who teach science courses must possess a minimum of a master’s degree and a minimum of two years teaching experience in an appropriately related field.</li>
<li>Faculty who supervise clinical experiences must possess a current license and registration to practice in any jurisdiction where they are assigned. </li>
<li>A demonstrated aptitude for teaching health science students. </li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to function in a dynamic and supportive team.</li>
<li>Appropriate written and verbal communication skills required to work in an academic setting.</li>
<li>Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.</li>
