The Safety Security Officer/Residential Aide is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all client’s, staff, and the property around the facility in a homeless shelter. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager of the Facility. Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations required. 
DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>Perform daily inspections of all clients’ rooms</li>
<li>Escort clients to appointments as needed</li>
<li>Interact with and monitor client’s behavior and maintain good rapport by providing excellent customer service. Encourage clients to comply with facility policy and procedures.</li>
<li>Control access at the main entrance by screening all clients, and visitors, utilizing magnetometer / x-ray machine to detect and prevent weapons from entering the site. </li>
<li>Perform Crisis Intervene to de-escalate potential crisis situations and document all such situations and interventions.</li>
<li>Make hourly rounds throughout entire facility including all hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchen, and office spaces.</li>
<li>Respond to incidents</li>
<li>Assist with client intakes</li>
<li>Perform daily pack ups and logging of client property belonging to AWOL clients</li>
<li>Store and remove client property once the mandated storage time have expired</li>
<li>Maintain a clean and organized storage area</li>
<li>Complete logs, incident reports and all other required documentation.</li>
<li>Make calls to police, fire department and other first responders as directed.</li>
<li>Perform administrative and receptionist duties at the operations desk; monitor video surveillance cameras, and fire prevention / detection alarm notification system. </li>
<li>Provide duties related to fire incident, evacuation of the building when necessary, utilizing Fire procedure.</li>
<li>Ensure the safety and security of all assigned equipment.</li>
<li>Perform other tasks as assigned.</li>

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED and prior security experience required. Must have NYS Security Guard License, and current 8 Hour Annual Certificate. Fire Guard License for Shelters. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred. Must be able to work flexible shifts, weekends and overtime if necessary.

Position available: Full-time Maintenance Specialist
 
Shift/schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00a-4:30p
 
Pay Range: $17.00/hour to $22.00/hour
 
Position Summary: Performs general maintenance tasks and assists in the prevention and maintenance programs. Provides transportation as may be assigned.
 
Education and Training: High School graduate, or equivalency with a technical post graduate program.
 
Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum of 3 years general maintenance experience. Proficient basic skills in painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, heating and ventilation.
 
Licenses/Certications: Must maintain a valid NYS Driver License. Physical Demands: Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 pounds
 
Essential Duties: 
- Performs masonry and painting as part of the preventive maintenance and general maintenanceprogram. - Performs plumbing and heating as part of the preventive maintenance and general maintenanceprogram. - Performs electrical work as part of the preventive maintenance and general maintenance program. - Performs carpentry work as part of the preventive maintenance and general maintenance program. - Maintains equipment and tools for eectiveness and safety. - Repairs equipment and vehicles to assure proper working order. - Maintains lawns and grounds. - Operates ground equipment in a safe manner. - Actively participates in organizational meetings and committees as required. - Performs snow removal duties ranging from plowing, shoveling walkways and entrances in a safemanner. - Supervises jobs when necessary. - Performs additional duties as requested by the Maintenance Director.

We offer hands-on help to address chronic homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, disability, and systematic poverty&nbsp;by offering innovative solutions and proactive services to the most vulnerable in Schenectady County. This position is based at Cara House on 917 State Street, Schenectady, NY. Cara House offers supportive housing is a safe/secure environment for individuals with chronic or emergency unmet housing needs. We provide integrated primary care and behavioral health treatment programs and assist with providing access to financial and educational resources where applicable. The Building Monitor operates the switchboard and monitors security cameras to ensure the safety of the building and its perimeter, promptly addressing any incidents ensuring the well-being of our residents and visitors. Primary Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Serve as the first point of contact for all building visitors, directing callers and guests as needed, and conduct hourly walk-throughs of the premises.</li>
<li>Monitor guest arrivals and ensure compliance with residential program policies regarding curfew, visitors, behavior, and permitted possessions.</li>
<li>Activate the Safety Plan or Emergency Plan when necessary.</li>
<li>Adhere to all after-hours emergency and notification protocols.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate and detailed entries in the log book as required.</li>
<li>Facilitate clear communication between staff, visitors, and guests using the phone, paging system, and other communication tools as needed.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma or equivalent required.</li>
<li>Two to five years’ prior work experience in a related field.</li>
<li>Strong communications skills with the ability to operate the agency phone system in a clear and professional manner.</li>
<li>Computer literacy including the ability to work with automated output and the ability to enter data in automated systems.</li>
<li>Experience working with the homeless population; people who have mental illness and/or substance abuse history and diverse populations.</li>
<li>Ability to recognize and respond to an emergency.</li>
<li>Professional demeanor and the ability to represent the agency positively in all interactions, maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.</li>
<li>Demonstrated resourcefulness, ability to work independently, and take initiative.</li>
<li>Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.</li>
<li>Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work.</li>
<li>Availability to work hours above normally scheduled work hours in an emergency to cover front desk duties is a plus.</li>

Part Time: 12-16 hrs/wk Pay: $17/hr 2 shifts available:

<li>Sat &amp; Sun, 4 pm – 10 pm (6 hrs/day)&nbsp;</li>
<li>Sat &amp; Sun, 8 am - 4 pm (8 hrs/day)</li>
