WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
CHI is looking for a full and part-time Resident Support Specialist (RSS) for our Commack location.&nbsp;You will provide a safe, structured, and supervised environment for CHI residents and staff. The RSS coordinates and verifies client movement in the facility while also monitoring the client conduct and overall behavior during tour of duty. This is accomplished by performing the following functions:
<ul>
<li>Maintain visibility to residents, staff, and visitors by wearing a safety monitor vest, ID badge, and professional attire.</li>
<li>Screen all clients and visitors entering the facility.</li>
<li>Perform bag searches upon intake and as required.</li>
<li>Ensure clients abide by the facility, DSS, and OTDA policies and procedures.</li>
<li>De-escalate potential crisis situations and document all interventions.</li>
<li>Conduct rounds throughout the facility including hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, and other common areas.</li>
<li>Complete logs, incident reports, and all other required documentation.</li>
<li>Perform administrative and receptionist duties at the operations/front desk.</li>
<li>Monitor video surveillance cameras, fire prevention, detection alarm, and notification system.</li>
<li>Support the running of fire drills; evacuate the building when necessary, utilize fire safety procedures.</li>
<li>Assist with room preparation and turnover for new clients.</li>
<li>Maintain inventory of cleaning and office supplies and ensure proper distribution.</li>
<li>Inform management of work site’s physical condition (i.e. dangerous conditions, possible repair needs, supply needs, etc.).</li>
<li>Support afterschool/evening activities as needed.</li>

<li>Previous experience in personal care or other related fields</li>
<li>Compassionate and caring demeanor</li>
<li>Ability to build rapport with clients</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li>
<li>Must have High School or equivalent degree.</li>
<li>Prefer First Aid, CPR, AMAP and SCIP certifications or Aptitude upon hire.</li>
<li>Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights &amp; 20lb items.</li>
<li>Demonstrates organizational, written and verbal skills.</li>
<li>Must be at least 18 or older.</li>
