About the Role:
The Bilingual Youth Care Worker is responsible for providing direct services and performs various support tasks as part of the youth’s daily care. The unaccompanied Children Program provides temporary residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government. Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, our program provides a safe and nurturing environment for 205 youth in a Basic Shelter program located at our licensed residential facility Westchester, Mt Vernon, Queens, Brooklyn and Bronx, Upper Manhattan as well as a Transitional Foster Care Program for 143 youth in certified foster homes in the Bronx, Westchester and Brooklyn. In both programs, we provide therapeutic and educational services and other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as well as link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States so they are able to move forward with their lives and thrive.
What You’ll Do:
· Provide supervision of all children in the program, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
· Utilize the therapeutic interventions techniques received during TCI training, and any other program related techniques.
· Maintains security in buildings, grounds, and other posts; intervenes during emergencies or crisis situations.
· Supervises movement of the youth inside and outside following the facility policy and procedures which includes taking periodic counts of youth.
· Monitors, supervises and participates with youth in various activities; (i.e., educational outings, recreational, faith-based services, physical education classes etc.)
· Interacts critically and constructively with other staff members to develop and implement successful interventions techniques.
· Develops effective relationships with youth, co-workers, and team members.
· Assist youth with their personal issues and refers issues to the treatment team group in accordance with the principles of the program.
· Observes and keeps staff informed daily of significant behavioral conditions known about an individual and/or the group.
· Assists in preparing reports regarding each youth’s adjustment and progress.
· Cover lesson plans created by the POH Educational Coordinator, in the different classrooms of the program, as needed.
· Prepares log entries and reports in a timely manner.
· Escorts and/or transports youth to predetermined locations.
· Exercises judgment and discretion in the performance of duties within departmental rules, regulations, and policies.
· Weekend and evening shifts
· Performs other related work as assigned.
· Implements the tenants of PBIS with the children (providing the explanation to the children of the PBIS model, ensuring recording of behaviors and distributing Gotchas)
 
Your Qualifications:
· Preferred – A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university within one or a combination of the following: Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social work.
· One or more years of work experience in residential treatment program
· Two or more years of experience in group work which involved direct care and interaction with youth such as YMCA, schools, recreational facilities, or residential care programs.
· OR at least one year of childcare experience.
· Required Valid vehicle operator’s license with a clean driving record

About the Role
The Unaccompanied Children Program provides long term and transitional residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government. Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), the program provides a safe and nurturing environment for youth in a Basic Shelter program, and the programs located at our licensed residential facilities located in Westchester, Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn, New York as well as a Transitional Foster Care program and the Long Term Foster Care Program located in foster homes in the Bronx, Queens and Westchester.
The Assistant Residence Manager is responsible for assisting on the oversight of the daily operations of the residential program to ensure that facilities and processes in the residential program are being implemented and followed as stipulated by Office of Children Family Services (OCFS) and the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). The Assistant Residence Manager provides leadership and guidance to the Youth Care Workers (YCW) in partnership with the Residence Manager. Additionally, the Assistant Residence Manager is responsible for ensuring that the program is adequately staffed with, residential staff (YCW) and other essential staff members.
What You’ll Do
· Supervisory / managerial responsibilities as assigned by Residence Manager or Senior Director of Residential Services.
· Assumes responsibility for safety, personal conduct, and care of the youth in the residence.
· Direct supervision of the Youth Care Workers assigned to the residence.
· Responsible for Scheduling and Ensuring coverage meets ratio mandates. This may include covering shifts when staff are out.
· Ensures staff complies with agency and governing funders policies, protocols and procedures.
· Assist in the writing of Job Performance evaluations for Youth Care workers under their supervision.
· Manage and ensure food is available in the residence and works collaboratively with the Food Coordinators to ensure nutritional standards.
· Assesses youth’s needs and assist with the development of treatment plans, education, and aftercare plans for the youth.
· Implements PBIS tenants in daily work with Children and Staff.
· Interacts critically and constructively with staff members to develop and implement successful intervention techniques, provide support.
· Actively engages with the youth in the program to create positive relationships among their peers and staff.
· Keeps staff informed of significant behavioral conditions known about an individual and/or the group. Reviews ICSP’s with staff when needed to create consistency and stability.
· Ensures and maintains security in buildings, grounds, and other posts; intervenes during emergencies and crisis situations by utilizing TCI techniques and other interventions.
· Ensure compliance with all mandated training.
· Be a supportive and motivating presence in the program and residence.
 
Your Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field- preferred
· Minimum two years of work experience in a residential treatment program; or
· Two or more years of experience in group work which involved direct care and interaction with youth such as YMCA, schools, recreational facilities, or residential care programs.
· Supervisory experience of at least one year is preferred
· Ability to transport youth and travel.
· Ability to work a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime; and the ability to respond to crises situations.
· Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff, community groups, the courts, other agencies, and the general public.
· Excellent writing and communication skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
· Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) a plus
· Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license and clean driving record

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are based on program needs; typically, a Sun-Fri or Tues – Sat. schedule in your assigned residential facility. Work hours include one mandatory evening schedule 11am – 7pm or 12pm – 8pm other schedule times can vary, for example: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm, 10 am - 6 pm.
 
Additional Requirements:
· Authorized to work in the U.S.
· Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week.
· Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites (if required)

Assistant Residence Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the supervision of the NORC &amp; HOPE Director, the NORC Programs &amp; Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities and events for program participants with the assistance from program members and staff.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or equivalent and Minimum of 2 years of programmatic experience. Organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a busy office (performing multiple tasks simultaneously), is necessary. Knowledge of effective recruitment, engagement strategies and program planning. Strong interpersonal, time management, organizational and communications skills.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor degree or degree in social work or a related mental health degree. Experience working with seniors in a community setting. Must be able to speak, read and write fluent English; conversational-level Spanish/Cantonese preferred. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>Work with program members and staff to develop a comprehensive schedule of classes, workshops, and group outings informed by constituent feedback</li>
<li>Coordinate with Facilities team to ensure that all meeting rooms are reserved and set up for participant activities and events</li>
<li>Establish and sustain the Advisory Council that provides member leadership opportunities regarding program development</li>
<li>Collaborate with other community organizations to enhance programs, including identifying resources for presentations about health and other relevant issues</li>
<li>Coordinate outreach for presentations about health and other relevant issues</li>
<li>Coordinate outreach with local educational institutions to develop and implement intergenerational projects to engage students and seniors</li>
<li>Develop and conduct holiday, cultural and other special programs, including group outreach events</li>
<li>Create and distribute communications, including flyers and calendars, on educational, health programming and entertainment for NORC members on weekly, monthly and as-needed basis</li>
<li>Work with the social services staff to identify clients in need of friendly visiting and escorting services and liaise between them and the volunteers assigned for this purpose to ensure that unmet needs are identified and addressed</li>
<li>Develop and conduct evaluation procedures to secure program member and volunteer interest, concerns and suggestions</li>
