The Quad Preparatory School is looking for 1:1 psychosocial assistants in our Lower School program (Kindergarten-5th grade) for the 2025-2026 school year. As a psychosocial assistant, your main role is to implement psychosocial strategies and interventions with the student that you are paired with. This student will be a student in a Lower School classroom, so you will be working directly as a team with their Head Academic Teachers, their Psychosocial Teacher, and their Associate Teacher. In addition, you will be working collaboratively with your students' clinical team (counselor, occupational therapist, speech-language therapist, and possibly a learning specialist) to ensure that you are meeting your students’ needs and creating a successful learning environment for them.

Psychosocial assistants&nbsp; have the opportunity to receive mentorship and support from the Lower School Clinical Director, classroom head and associate teachers, and the clinical staff, including licensed speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, and psychologists. You will receive significant professional development and experience working with twice-exceptional youth while being mentored by veteran special education teachers and clinicians.&nbsp;

PROGRAM DESIGN: RTS facilitates a variety of youth programs including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences, and summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people throughout NYC each year. RTS emphasizes the youth development practice of the Circle of Courage in all our programs; creating an environment of Belonging, where young people can build their Independence, find, and develop their Mastery skill, and practice Generosity in their communities. At the core of our programs are staff training strategies that enable our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young people in their care who we call Our Future Leaders because that is what they all are. &nbsp;
ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE:&nbsp;

Supervisor: Program Director&nbsp;

Compensation: $25 – $30 per hour&nbsp;&nbsp;

RESPONSIBILITIES:&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>
Teach and lead 1-hour sessions surrounding your field.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Creatively incorporate academics into the lesson plans.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Plan and submit bi-weekly lesson plans to Education Specialist for approval.&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>
Provides lesson plans that scaffold toward a culminating event/or take-home activity&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Provides lesson plans to group leaders prior to implementation in classroom for better assistance&nbsp;&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Must have time management and organizational skills in a classroom setting.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Work collaboratively with staff to maintain order and participation during program.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Ensures the safety of all participants throughout the instruction period&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>
Communicate with the Site Director about any schedule and classroom modifications, or behavioral issues,&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Attend mandatory scheduled meetings and professional development training.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Education Specialist, Site Director, or Assistant Site Director.&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>
QUALIFICATIONS:&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>
A degree or certification in your teaching field.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
At least one year of experience working in school age programs.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
At least one year of experience working in lesson planning.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
At least three years of experience teaching in your field of interest.&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>
Strong skills in communication, punctuality, and teamwork.&nbsp;
</li>
