Position Description:
The Teacher of the Deaf /HH or Early Childhood Special Educator serves a pivotal role within Clarke’s birth-3 program, conducting evaluations, providing individual SI sessions, virtually and in person and leads SI groups, such as parent/infant groups, toddler groups and parent support groups.
 
Clarke’s EI program uses parent coaching approach, to increase parents/caregivers capacity to use strategies and skills to support each child’s overall development, increase amplification use, and to apply listening and spoken language techniques outside of the intervention setting.
 
The EI teacher works closely with Clarke’s EI team of Speech Pathologists, Audiologist, OT/PT, service coordinator and other educators to support infants and toddlers who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families.
 
This is a full time, 35 hour per week position that follows the preschool 6-week summer schedule and academic calendar Sept-June, with the possibility of flexible scheduling for any parent groups meeting outside of regular business hours.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
 
· Provide individual and group Early Intervention special instruction and support services following each child’s learning planning and in keeping with EI regulations and Clarke’s policies and procedures.
· Conduct evaluations following EI regulations and using appropriate tools such as standardized measures, questionnaires, parent report, and observation.
· Support parents/caregivers of children who are deaf or hard of hearing in Clarke’s birth-3 program by providing information, resources, connection and guidance about hearing loss related topics, typical development, and Early Intervention.
· Design a learning environment and activities for parent child and toddler groups that promote the child’s acquisition of skills in a variety of developmental areas, including cognitive processes, communication, and social interaction, that contribute to the development of auditory and spoken language skills.

Position Summary:
The NYJTL is seeking experienced tutors for our ACES After School Program. Candidate must have a strong interest in working with youth in after-school settings. We are seeking dynamic and engaging presenters, who possess the ability to motivate others, as part-time English and Math tutors.
This tutor will be able to connect one on one with elementary and middle school aged students. The ideal candidate must be able to display the ability to customize learning plans for each student. Responsible for the planning and implementation of a discipline or content-specific program activity such as Math with English experience. The ideal candidate will introduce new skills and reinforce learning. Under the direction of the Program Manager, or Director, the Tutor will implement educational enrichment activities for various groups in the program. 

Core Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Provides individual and group tutoring in areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, and study skills to students.</li>
<li>Ensures the safety and engagement of children in assigned activities.</li>
<li>Develops weekly activity lesson plans in the discipline or content-themed area for which he/she was hired.</li>
<li>Facilitates purposeful and engaging activities that foster the development of new skills, while reinforcing skills/information taught previously.</li>
<li>Assists in all activities needed for the orderly operation of the program: supervising children during classroom activities, and hosting special events, etc.</li>
<li>Works with program staff in engaging them in the lesson plan development process and modeling activity facilitation to help develop student mentorship in a professional setting. </li>
<li>Provides strong classroom management skills, and ensure all participants follow agency and program rules.</li>
<li>Maintain regular communications with Director. </li>
<li>Attending regular staff meetings, professional development trainings and workshops outside of program hours.</li>
<li>Serves as a positive role model, upholds professional behavior and works closely with all staff members in a team-based respectful setting.</li>
<li>All other projects and tasks as required ensuring the safety and security of all participants and the smooth operation of programming. </li>
</ul>
Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Must have a bachelor’s degree in education, child development or a related field and a minimum of two years’ experience working with elementary or middle school aged youth; interested candidates must have skills in Math and English. Teaching or tutoring experience required.</li>
<li>Experience with Test Prep and Standardized Testing.</li>
<li>Exceptional group management, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Interest and experience in youth development. Ability to create interactive academic and/or enrichment activities in the relevant discipline area that are age appropriate.</li>
<li>A genuine enthusiasm for developing professional skills through training opportunities and field practice.</li>
<li>Ability to work as part of a team within a school community</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a broad range of people including school staff and parents.</li>
<li>Experience with I-Ready.</li>
<li>ESL and Literacy as a focus.</li>
<li>Multilingual or bilingual a plus. </li>
<li>Knowledge of Tennis a plus. </li>

Requirements:
