Sunshine Camp involves two consecutive 1-week sessions. Most counselors work both sessions, but this is not required. Orientation gives our new staff a chance to meet everyone, get acquainted with campus, and receive important training. Counselors are paid $500 for each session worked, as well as $125 for attending orientation. In addition to counselors, we are also hiring program staff for summer 2025. Program staff work at camp all summer. So if you are looking for longer-term summer work, you can be considered for a position with program staff as well.

Our captains have the opportunity to work with the Club year-round or seasonally. Seasons run June to October in the Northeast, and November to May in our southern harbors.

Requirements:

Valid USCG captain’s license, Master or OUPV

Valid USCG Medical Certificate

Marine Radio Operator Permit

CPR and First Aid Certified

Strong experience on vessels of similar size

An understanding of basic vessel maintenance &amp; log keeping

Position Available: Recreation Specialist
We are seeking a full-time Recreation Specialist who provides recreational and leisure time activities to support our mission by giving our students a higher level of confidence, emotional and mental stability, optimism, and independence. Balancing academic and vocational training with fun activities helps our students attain a proper balance in their lives. Our facility offers an impressive weight room, arts and crafts room, and basketball/volleyball courts as well as allowing for off-center recreation activities such as hiking, paintball, and photography. The sky is the limit as to what special talent you may offer and share with our students! 
Duties: Organizes and supervises on and off-center recreation activities for students. Assists in developing and implementing diverse programs to include: arts and crafts, intramurals, cultural events and other recreational and enrichment programs. Guides students to make informed life style choices concerning fitness, nutrition and healthy life styles. Prepares schedules and calendars for all recreation activities. Coordinates student field trips. Maintains recreation facilities, equipment, and materials to Center standards. Tracks and records program attendance. Orders and maintains recreational equipment, supplies and materials. Provides transportation of students to and from center-sponsored events. Recognizes and reinforces students’ positive behavior. Must be available to work night and weekends
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalency required, 1-year experience working with youth. The candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
