The Academy Charter High School Mathematics teacher works to deepen students’ mastery of Mathematics. The Peer Navigator will work as a fully integrated team member providing peer recovery support to individuals in outpatient, residential, and community settings. The Peer Navigator will also serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator for individuals in recovery, their family members, friends, and allies to support long-term recovery. 
 
Responsibilities
Direct Care of Recovery Services (70%)

<li>Provide orientation to individuals regarding the process of their treatment when they begin accessing services.</li>
<li>Work with individuals and their case manager/social worker to create and execute a Recovery Wellness Plan (coach clients to transition from a professionally directed service plan to a self-directed Recovery plan) and evaluate progress.</li>
<li>Assist recovering persons to identify their goals, strengths, and personal interests regarding recovery and develop long and short-term strategies for achieving these goals.</li>
<li>Advice, guide, and train individuals through their recovery process as needed. </li>
<li>Escort individuals to appointments with agencies, self-help groups, and other community resources as needed.</li>
<li>Actively identify and support linkages to community resources that support the recovering person’s goals and interests. </li>
<li>Promote self-advocacy by assisting individuals to have their voices fully heard; their needs, goals, and objectives established as a focal point of rehabilitation and clinical services.</li>
<li>Participate with clinical staff in crisis intervention.</li>
<li>Report problematic issues, obstacles, and accomplishments experienced by individuals working toward their respective recovery goals to their case manager/social worker.</li>
<li> Promote and participate in outreach to inform community members about the Center’s services.</li>

SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Director, the Mentor Teacher is responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality educational instruction to students in Special Education and Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Programs. This role involves planning and implementing individualized educational programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, and fostering a developmentally appropriate and inclusive classroom environment.
The Mentor Teacher also serves as an instructional or teacher-team leader and professional development coach within the school building. They provide ongoing support, guidance, and modeling to teachers, assistant teachers, and student teachers to enhance instructional quality and student outcomes. As a teacher-team leader, the Mentor Teacher ensures collaboration among interdisciplinary teams (i.e., related service providers, families, etc.) and contributes to continuous program improvement.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Mentor Teacher will include, but are not limited to the following:

<li>Plan, implement, and adapt daily lessons and classroom activities based on students' developmental levels and individual education plans (IEPs).</li>
<li>Develop and maintain both short- and long-term instructional goals and evaluate student progress regularly.</li>
<li>Participate in student evaluations, intake assessments, and transition planning processes.</li>
<li>Develop educational reports, including annual reviews, quarterly progress reports, and formal assessments in all developmental domains, where needed.</li>
<li>Ensure that lesson plans and classroom materials are developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and accessible to all learners.</li>
<li>Maintain up-to-date and accurate student records, including attendance, data tracking, and anecdotal reports.</li>
<li>Implement and support the classroom environment with evidence-based instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.</li>

Leadership and Mentorship Responsibilities:

<li>Provide mentoring, modeling, and instructional coaching to teachers and teacher assistants, fostering a culture of reflective practice and professional growth.</li>

<li>Collaborate with related service providers, families, and other professionals to ensure cohesive educational planning and implementation.</li>

<li>Oversee classroom setup, including furniture, materials, and adaptive equipment to optimize learning and ensure safety.</li>
<li>Manage and requisition of classroom supplies and materials in accordance with budgetary procedures.</li>
<li>Support arrival, dismissal, and transition routines; assist students with personal care needs including feeding, toileting, and dressing, as needed.</li>

Family Service League is seeking a part-time Peer Specialist for the DASH (Diagnostic, Assessment, and Stabilization Hub) Crisis Center in Hauppauge. The DASH Crisis Center is a 24-hour per day, 7 day per week outpatient crisis stabilization program that includes a 24-hour crisis hotline and mobile response team. The Peer Specialist will engage and support individuals, children and adults, utilizing the Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center by sharing lived experience and maintaining a trauma informed environment. 
RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>The Peer Specialist will provide outreach to clients and/or their families in the field, by phone, and in person.</li>
<li>Facilitate engagement in services and offer linkage to community resources.</li>
<li>Participate in crisis assessments and linkages as part of multidisciplinary team.</li>
<li>Provide recovery readiness support through linkage to community resources.</li>
<li>The Peer Specialist will provide warm hands off to all levels of treatment.</li>
