Job Title: Group Director of Security
Location: Manhattan & Bushwick, Brooklyn
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, highly organized Group Director of Security to oversee and lead security operations across our expansive Manhattan workspaces and four dynamic hospitality venues in Bushwick, Brooklyn. This role demands a strategic leader with deep expertise in high-rise and office building security, as well as hands-on experience in hospitality, nightlife, and event security management. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining rigorous safety standards while ensuring seamless, welcoming experiences for our members, guests, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute comprehensive security programs for both large-scale corporate workspaces and high-volume hospitality venues.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse security team, including supervisors, front-of-house staff, and event-specific personnel.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments and adapt security protocols to evolving threats, guest experience expectations, and operational needs.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee all security operations for 2 Manhattan high-rise buildings, ensuring compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.
- Direct security for four Bushwick venues, including two event spaces, a private club, and a hotel, maintaining hospitality-focused, discreet, and guest-friendly security measures.
- Coordinate with property management, building engineering, and external security contractors as needed.
- Implement access control systems, CCTV, visitor management, and incident reporting procedures across all properties.
- Event & Nightlife Security:
- Design and staff security plans for a range of events, from corporate functions to large nightlife gatherings, ensuring crowd control, conflict de-escalation, and safe ingress/egress.
- Work with hospitality and events teams to balance security with premium guest experience.
- Oversee VIP protection and manage issues related to intoxication, unwanted guests, or disruptions.
- Staffing & Training:
- Recruit, hire, and train all security personnel, emphasizing customer service, emergency preparedness, and compliance.
- Develop and lead regular training on crisis management, active shooter scenarios, fire/life safety, and first aid.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, inclusivity, and hospitality within the security team.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure all venues and workspaces meet NYC security, fire, and safety regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of incidents, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare reports for senior management and participate in emergency response planning.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years’ progressive experience in security management for large-scale commercial real estate (especially high-rise and office environments) and hospitality venues (nightlife, events, hotel, or club settings).
- Proven track record overseeing security for multiple properties/locations, preferably in an urban setting.
- Deep knowledge of NYC building codes, fire/life safety standards, and emergency procedures.
- Experience designing and implementing security protocols for both office and hospitality operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in staff management, scheduling, and leadership of large, diverse security teams.
- Strong background in hospitality and customer-facing environments, with a sharp understanding of the balance between safety and guest experience.
- Hands-on experience with access control, surveillance, visitor management technology, and incident response.
- Excellent communication, training, and conflict-resolution skills.
- NYS Security Guard License required; Fire and Life Safety Director (FLSD) certification preferred.
- Flexible schedule; must be available for nights, weekends, and emergencies as needed.
Preferred:
- Experience with private club environments and boutique hotel security operations.
- Crisis management or emergency response certification.
