Overview

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure. This role supports daily manufacturing operations, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience in food production or manufacturing environments and understands the urgency and precision required to keep equipment running at peak performance.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic repairs on production machinery, ovens, conveyors, mixers, packaging equipment, and refrigeration systems.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement timely corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Maintain accurate logs of completed work, parts used, and equipment performance.
  • Recommend improvements to PM schedules based on equipment condition and production needs.
  • Assist with building maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and general facility repairs.
  • Support maintenance of utilities such as compressed air, steam, water, and electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards (FDA, USDA, OSHA).
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Sanitation teams to resolve equipment issues quickly.
  • Set up and adjust machinery for production runs as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and GMP requirements.
  • Identify and report potential hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Support audits, inspections, and documentation requirements.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in food production, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with PLCs, sensors, motors, pumps, and industrial controls is a plus.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, food safety standards, and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond quickly to urgent issues.
  • Willingness to work off‑shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed.
