Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The cashier should be an accountable individual who processes all cash and credit card transitions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures. The successful individual will play a fundamental role in achieving our customer satisfaction and revenue growth objectives. Duties and responsibilities of the cashier will include greeting customers when entering or leaving our establishment, maintaining a clean and tidy checkout area and keeping reports of cash and credit transactions. Cashier will be assigned a personal code to open his or her own register, which cannot be shared with anyone else.

  • Opening/Closing cash register procedures
  • Maintain a high level of customer service.
  • Organize customers’ purchase orders.
  • Scan items correctly and collect cash or credit/debit card payments.
  • Responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts
  • Assist with stocking, pricing, and cleaning.
  • Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization within the cashier stations
  • Stock cashier stations with paper, products, or other operating supplies
  • Adhere to all company policies procedures & safety standards.
  • Maintain a neat personal appearance, wear company uniform and nametag always.
  • Assist with training of new cashiers.
  • Demonstrate a positive, helpful attitude as well as always presenting professional conduct and appearance.
  • Greet customers as they approach the cash register, maintain a positive attitude and smile.
  • Answer customer questions
  • Deal with returns/exchanges in a positive manner
  • Provide basic store and product information to clients as needed.
  • Meet company’s customer service standards.
  • Follow all upselling rules and procedures.
  • Complete all applicable department training programs.
  • Promote the sales of any current promotions to the customers (up-selling)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
  • 18 years or older
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to read, write and do simple math problems
  • Ability to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problems
  • Able to work well with others as a team member
  • A passion for serving people
