About the Firm:
We are a fast-paced litigation firm specializing in toll collection enforcement and no-fault insurance defense across New York and New Jersey. Our team is driven, collaborative, and focused on achieving efficient results for government agencies, insurers, and institutional clients. We are seeking a Managing Paralegal with leadership experience to oversee daily workflow and assist in supervising our legal support staff.
Position Overview:
The Managing Paralegal will play a key leadership role, coordinating paralegal teams, optimizing workflows, and supporting attorneys in all phases of litigation. The role requires someone who is organized, proactive, and experienced in managing high-volume legal files involving court deadlines, discovery, motion practice, and judgment enforcement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor a team of paralegals and legal assistants
- Coordinate assignments and ensure timely completion of case milestones
- Oversee file organization and status tracking across active matters
- Draft and review legal documents, including affidavits, discovery responses, subpoenas, and motions
- Ensure compliance with procedural requirements and filing protocols in both state and federal courts
- Manage service of process, court filings (NYSCEF/EDDS), and case calendaring
- Collaborate with attorneys to prepare for court conferences, depositions, and trials
- Generate client reports and case status summaries
- Assist in training new staff on firm software and procedures
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in collections or insurance defense
- Prior experience supervising a team or leading project workflows
- Strong working knowledge of New York Civil Practice Rules, motion practice, and discovery rules
- Proficiency with legal software (CARET Legal, NetDocuments, simplicity collect, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Familiarity with electronic filing systems (NYSCEF, EDDS)
- Ability to handle high-volume caseloads and multitask under pressure
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with government agency clients or toll violation matters or collections
- Knowledge of no-fault insurance defense practices and terminology
- Familiarity with enforcement actions including garnishments and bank restraints
- Understanding of client trust accounting procedures and billing best practices
- Should have understanding an supervisory ability to handle pleadings through discovery and judgment with enforcement.
