Job Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented professional to lead our Smoked Fish Department. This role is critical in maintaining food safety standards, ensuring product freshness, and delivering an outstanding customer experience. The Head of Department will oversee daily operations, staff training, merchandising, and quality control while upholding the highest standards of safety and sanitation.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with all company food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance standards.

Lead and train associates on department policies, procedures, and customer service expectations.

Weigh, package, label, and merchandise smoked fish products with accuracy and care.

Monitor product freshness and quality, controlling inventory levels and minimizing waste.

Receive, organize, and maintain department supplies and stock.

Ensure refrigeration and storage equipment is functioning properly; report issues immediately.

Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and offering knowledgeable product recommendations.

Demonstrate strong product expertise, including taste, preparation methods, use, and differences between seafood varieties.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including regular sanitation of equipment and surfaces.

Handle damaged or spoiled products according to company policy.

Uphold company dress code and professional grooming standards.

Collaborate with store management to achieve department sales and service goals.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Previous experience in smoked fish, seafood, or food retail environment strongly preferred.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate a team.

Solid knowledge of smoked fish and seafood products.

Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to perform basic math and maintain accurate records.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment.
