Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract position in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) at a top-tier hospital in Manhattan. The RN will be responsible for delivering safe, evidence-based, and compassionate psychiatric nursing care to patients across CPEP, Adult Psych, and Child/Adolescent units.
Responsibilities:

Deliver nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) tailored to psychiatric populations

Float between CPEP, Adult Psych, and Child/Adol units based on unit needs

Perform ongoing mental and physical health assessments
-
Administer psychotropic and emergency medications; monitor for side effects
-
Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and the interdisciplinary team
-
Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC EMR system
-
Participate in discharge planning and crisis stabilization interventions
-
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and care goals
-
Adhere to all hospital, legal, and regulatory standards of practice

Participate in hourly rounding, shift reporting, and patient safety initiatives
Qualifications:
-
Active NYS Registered Nurse license (required)

BLS (AHA) certification (required)
-
CPI certification (required)
-
Minimum 2 years of recent psychiatric RN experience, including CPEP or ED Psych
-
Experience with adult and pediatric psychiatric populations

EPIC experience (required)

Strong crisis management, de-escalation, and therapeutic communication skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate’s with relevant experience acceptable

Interested candidates should be comfortable working overnight shifts, floating between psychiatric units, and supporting both adult and pediatric populations in an emergency psych setting.
