Job Description: RN - Labor & Delivery / ANTEPARTUM AND POSTPARTUM
Location : New York, NY 10019
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Weekly Breakdown:
Weekly Gross: $3,167.00 Per Week
On W2(Taxable): $864.00 Per Week
Stipend(Non-Taxable): $2,303.00 Per Week
Job Duties:
The RN in the Labor & Delivery Unit will provide safe, competent, and compassionate care to patients in the unit, ensuring that care is evidence-based and patient-centered.
- Patient Care:
- Deliver nursing care in the Labor & Delivery Unit using the professional practice model of Relationship-Centered Care.
- Perform patient assessments, care planning, and interventions based on nursing theory, research, and clinical evidence.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver quality care to patients and their families.
- Prioritize care tasks such as teaching, rounding, coaching, and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and their families regarding care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team members.
- Manage assignments in line with the Modified Primary Nursing model.
- Patient Experience:
- Promote a therapeutic and compassionate relationship with patients and families.
- Engage in patient rounding, ensure proper documentation, and escalate patient concerns when needed.
- Initiate service recovery actions when required.
- Quality and Safety:
- Ensure high-quality and safe patient care through the use of evidence-based practices.
- Participate in peer and institutional reviews and quality improvement projects.
- Address safety hazards and participate in institutional safety protocols.
- Utilize hospital technology to document care and support performance improvement initiatives.
- Operations:
- Perform charge nurse duties as needed and coordinate with staff for supply and inventory management.
- Ensure effective use of resources such as equipment and staff.
- Ensure that documentation complies with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Facilitate efficient patient throughput.
- Professional Development:
- Contribute to a supportive environment for clinical colleagues, patients, and families.
- Advance clinical competence in nursing practice.
- Participate in continuous learning, innovation, and shared decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Experience:
- 2 years of L&D experience required, with specific expertise in antepartum, postpartum, and newborn assessment.
- 1 year of travel nursing experience required for travel positions.
- 1-2 years of RN experience in a clinical setting required.
- (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required.
- Magnesium Sulfate experience required.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- New York State RN License (Active)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Epic experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
Work Environment & Unit Details:
- Unit Type: Labor & Delivery
- Unit Size: 12-18 beds
- Average Unit Census: 12 patients
- Staffing Guidelines: 1-2 RN staff per shift
- Patient Care Setting: Acute care, with a focus on maternal and newborn health.
