Steinway & Sons is currently looking for a Production Supervisor to oversee a team in our Piano Manufacturing Plant. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for scheduling and assigning work, inspecting department production, and coordinating interdepartmental activities to meet production targets and quality standards. They will monitor and prioritize the workflow of production to meet deadlines as well as provide direct feedback to the leadership team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe work environment at all times
- Ability to set daily/weekly/monthly goals, communicating them effectively to employees
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Coordinate and supervise workflow within the department
- Develop and implement a production schedule according to projected requirements
- Maintain effective employee relations – handles first step in grievance procedure
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to spot issues in efficiency/productivity and suggest improvements
- Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests
- Maintain and control inventory of required materials and equipment
- Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries
- Training of new employees and upgrading skills of current employees
- Orientation and instruction of new employees
- Supervise maintenance of department tools, machines, and equipment
- Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
Qualifications, education, and experience:
- High School graduate
- 5+ years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and analyze engineering specifications and drawings
- Lean manufacturing experience preferred
- Union environment experience a plus
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft office
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
The estimated annualized base salary range for this role is $80,000-$100,000. Compensation will vary based on skills and experience.
