Job Summary:
We’re looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Operations Manager to oversee and improve day-to-day production in our small but fast-paced electronics assembly business. This role blends operations leadership with strong project management, supporting everything from scheduling and purchasing to quality and continuous improvement.
You’ll wear multiple hats and play a key role in ensuring on-time delivery, smooth production flow, and operational efficiency across the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily manufacturing activities including final product assembly and testing, calibration activities.
- Plan and coordinate production schedules in line with sales forecasts and history.
- Manage inventory and purchasing of components, tools, and consumables while minimizing freight costs.
- Drive small-scale improvement projects (e.g., workflow optimization, equipment upgrades, workspace layout).
- Collaborate closely with engineering on New Product Introductions (NPI) and prototype builds.
- Train and support production staff; assist with cross-training and troubleshooting as needed.
- Track key production metrics (quality (PFT), downtime, throughput etc.); recommend actions to improve performance.
- Maintain safety and quality standards (ESD, UL, ISO).
- Serve as point person for internal and customer production updates.
Qualifications:
- 3–5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing, ideally in a small business or startup environment.
- Experience managing or coordinating production teams and schedules.
- Strong understanding of electronic testing and assembly processes.
- Solid project management skills: ability to scope, plan, and execute projects with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of ERP or inventory systems (Acumatica).
- Practical, hands-on approach to solving problems and improving operations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Nice to Have (But Not Required):
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma tools (e.g., 5S, root cause analysis).
- Familiarity with ISO 17025or ISO 9001 practices.
- Experience supporting prototype or low-volume, high-mix production.
- Familiarity with calibration practices.
