Senior Real Estate Transactional Attorney (with Distressed Debt Experience)
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $200,000 - $300,000 base
A dynamic and fast-growing real estate practice is seeking a seasoned Senior Real Estate Transactional Attorney with 7+ years of sophisticated experience, including a strong background in distressed debt, workouts, and traditional real estate transactions.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated, business-minded attorney who can work independently, think strategically, and deliver practical counsel on complex and high-value matters. The ideal candidate will have deep familiarity with the New York real estate market and extensive experience advising owners, developers, lenders, and investors.
Key Areas of Expertise:
- Distressed debt transactions, including workouts, discounted payoffs (DPOs), and restructurings involving banks, CMBS lenders and servicers, non-bank lenders, and mezzanine lenders
- Debt and mezzanine loan foreclosures (a strong plus)
- Acquisitions and dispositions of office, retail, industrial, hospitality, and mixed-use properties
- Commercial leasing, including representation of both landlords and tenants
- Development, land use, and construction matters
- Real estate finance, including traditional and structured financing, mortgage and mezzanine debt
- Joint venture structuring, operating agreements, and partnership arrangements
Candidate Profile:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New York Bar
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant transactional real estate experience, including distressed debt
- Proven ability to lead transactions from start to finish with minimal supervision
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Strong client relationship management and business development capabilities
- A solutions-oriented, proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
