Front Desk/Office Assistant
Location: Garden City, NY
Type: Temporary (January 5 – March 2)
Schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
- Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Pay Rate: up to $21/hour
Interview Timeline:
Interviews will take place shortly after Thanksgiving.
Position Overview
Reputable law firm based in Garden City, NY is seeking a polished, professional Front Desk / Office Assistant to support a busy office environment. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for clients and visitors and must demonstrate strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills. Prior legal office experience is preferred, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Key Responsibilities
- Answer and route incoming calls to the appropriate employee or attorney
- Gather and relay basic information from callers before transferring calls
- Locate and retrieve files for attorneys as needed
- Scan and upload documents into the electronic filing system
- Assist with mass mailings as required
- Log, stamp, and distribute incoming mail
- Order and manage office supplies (Quill, Staples, etc.)
- Schedule FedEx pickups when needed
- Enter and upload data into online systems
- Greet visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area and conference rooms
- Turn on/off air purifiers and close windows at the end of each workday

- Pleasant phone voice and professional demeanor for frequent client contact
- Strong customer service orientation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
- Prior legal office experience preferred
