Set up, operate, or tend grinding, cutting, polishing and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces; sharpen edges or corners; buff, hone or polish metal or plastic work pieces.
Specific Duties:
- Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences.
- Select tooling to be used, using knowledge of equipment and production requirements.
- Use a variety of hand tools to remove burrs or sharp edges, improve surface finishes or appearance.
- Setup and use power or automated tools to perform deburring and other material removal operations.
- Utilize and control the application of metalworking fluids and lubricants.
- Inspect or measure finished work pieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as microscopes, gauges or micrometers.
- Perform value-added operations such as packaging, cleaning, or degaussing components.
- Lift, move, or position parts and containers weighing up to 40 pounds.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED
- Understands basics of blueprint reading, drawing notations, and dimensioning concepts
- Understands and applies acceptance criteria appropriate to each component’s requirements.
- Preferred: Experience in a machining or metalworking environment
Compensation: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour based on experience
