Job Description
We’re looking for a skilled Plumbing Mechanic who can do more than install and repair. This role requires strong on-site assessment, the ability to diagnose issues accurately, and clear communication with both the office and building representatives. You’ll be trusted to evaluate conditions in the field and relay information that directly affects pricing, scope, and scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing plumbing systems and accurately identify issues, risks, and required repairs
- Perform installations, repairs, and replacements on domestic water, sanitary, gas, and heating systems
- Communicate findings clearly to the office (photos, explanations, scope details) for estimating and invoicing
- Explain conditions and work needed to supers, building management, or clients in a professional manner
- Execute work in accordance with NYC Plumbing Code and company standards
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites
- Coordinate with supervisors, welders, electricians, and other trades as needed
- Respond to service calls and emergency work when required
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Plumbing Mechanic in NYC buildings
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent verbal communication and ability to explain technical issues clearly
- Ability to assess work independently without constant supervision
- Knowledge of steam, domestic water, drainage, and riser systems
- Ability to read plans, sketches, and field conditions
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- OSHA certification a plus
