Director of the Newburgh Performing Arts Academy

The Newburgh Performing Arts Academy is seeking an experienced and passionate Director to lead our vibrant, pre-professional school of the arts. Our Academy provides high-quality instruction in dance, music, theater, and visual arts to youth ages 3-19, and adults, while also offering community arts programs in partnership with schools and other organizations.

Position Overview:

The Director will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Academy, ensuring that all programs run smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with our mission to inspire and nurture creativity in youth. This role includes overseeing staff, coordinating curriculum development, managing budgets, and fostering relationships with students, parents, faculty, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration of all programs, including dance, music, theater, and visual arts for youth ages 3-19
  • Develop and maintain community arts programs in collaboration with local schools and community organizations
  • Supervise and support a team of teaching artists, administrative staff, and volunteers
  • Manage budgets, program funding, and financial reporting
  • Ensure the Academy maintains the highest standards of instruction, safety, quality, and inclusivity
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and community stakeholders
  • Lead outreach efforts to grow the Academy’s presence and impact within the community

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in arts education, preferably with leadership or management experience in an arts organization
  • Strong background in at least one of the following: dance, music, theater, or visual arts
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities and maintain positive partnerships
  • Passion for working with youth and fostering their artistic development
