We are seeking a Medical Assistant to become a part of our Vascular team! You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep the medical facility running smoothly and efficiently.
Job Summary:
Assist physicians, physician assistant, nurse practitioner and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a provider.
Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments; creating, updating and maintaining medical records in electronic medical record system; verifying patient insurance and contacting insurance company for preauthorization; answering phone to address patient questions or concerns. Clinical duties may include preparing treatment room for patient exams, taking vitals, recording patient medical history, and assisting with small procedures.
General Accountabilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients and assist with filling out intake forms, collect insurance information, measure vital signs and document all information in patient’s chart.
- Document and maintain patient charts in electronic medical records ensuring to adhere to HIPAA regulations keeping patient information confidential
- Assist physician, PA, or NP during routine exams and during procedures. Assist with cleaning rooms after procedures and disposing of contaminated materials.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate supplies, informing others if supplies are running low and placing order if necessary.
- Take telephone messages and faxes and providing feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls.
- Verify patient insurance monthly and contact insurance company for verification and preauthorization for procedures.
- Draws blood, changes dressings.
- Be willing to work at multiple clinic locations which may include but not limited to areas in New York such as the Bronx, Yonkers, Manhattan.

Job Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Certification as a medical assistant
- Minimum Experience: No minimum
- Minimum Certifications and/or Licenses: CPR and first aid certification highly preferred;.
- Minimum Skills: Experience with EMR documenting, MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook.
- Prefer applicant to have a car and active driver’s license.

- Bilingual-English/Spanish preferred
Physical Demands
- Job may require long periods of standing at times.
- Must be able to assist patients walking to exam rooms and getting onto exam tables.
- Occasionally required to lift moderate weights (25-50 pounds).

Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional medical office environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work at other clinical offices as needed.
- The employee must occasionally assist with lifting and moving patients from exam tables to stretchers.
