Providing one-on-one support in a K-12 educational setting, this full-time paraprofessional role supports students with significant developmental delays and autism diagnoses across multiple school locations in the Ithaca, NY area. The position runs from January 20, 2025, through June 25, 2026, serving students aged K21 in Bath, Hornell, and Jasper-Troupsburg schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized support for students with developmental and behavioral challenges, including toileting, feeding, ambulation, and other daily living activities
  • Assist with managing behavioral concerns and elopement prevention strategies
  • Support communication for many non-verbal students who utilize communication devices
  • Participate in Therapeutic De-escalation Training provided by the district, mandatory for this assignment
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment adhering to individualized education plans and behavioral goals

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in high-needs or behavioral settings, especially with students requiring one-on-one aides
  • Ability to provide support across a wide age range (K-21)
  • Comfort and skill in assisting with toileting, feeding, and mobility needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and patience when working with diverse students
  • Willingness to work onsite exclusively and collaborate with educational teams

Location:

  • Multiple onsite openings at school sites in Bath, Hornell, and Jasper-Troupsburg within the Ithaca, NY region
