About the Role
The Plant Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of operations within a high-volume food manufacturing facility. This leadership position ensures production targets are consistently met while maintaining top-tier standards in food safety, employee engagement, cost control, and regulatory compliance. The role plays a key part in setting strategic goals and driving operational excellence across all departments. Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations across production, quality assurance, sanitation, logistics, and maintenance teams
- Lead plant-wide continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste
- Develop and manage budgets, cost-saving programs, and resource planning strategies
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across departments
- Ensure all operations adhere to federal and state food safety regulations, including FDA, USDA, HACCP, and GMP standards
- Lead workforce planning, training, and organizational development to support high performance
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished products
- Maintain strong communication with corporate leadership to report on plant metrics and project status
- Establish and maintain a culture focused on workplace safety, accountability, and operational excellence
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in operations management, industrial engineering, food science, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing food manufacturing plant operations
- In-depth knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, and OSHA safety standards
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, high-output environment
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing metrics tracking software
Desired Qualifications:
- Masters degree in business administration, supply chain management, or operations
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma, Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar credentials
- Working knowledge of automation systems, plant utilities, and production scheduling
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
