Automatic Door Technician
Location: Farmingdale, NY | Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 per year ($30–$40/hr)
We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Automatic Door Technician to join a well-known locksmith company serving Long Island and the greater New York metro area. In this role, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing automatic door systems across commercial, industrial, and institutional sites.
The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a customer-first mindset, and a commitment to safety. This is a full-time permanent role, and the client is looking to hire ASAP.
What You’ll Do

Travel to job sites across Long Island and the NY metro area for installations and service calls

Install, maintain, and repair automatic door systems in compliance with AAADM and industry standards

Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues involving motors, sensors, switches, and control panels

Program and adjust motion sensors, access control systems, and timing devices

Conduct on-site assessments to evaluate installation requirements and provide recommendations

Replace defective components and ensure proper system functionality

Collaborate with clients to deliver customized door solutions

Document service activity including repairs, maintenance, and installations

Stay up to date on emerging technologies and best practices in the automatic door industry

Follow all job site safety protocols and procedures
Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)

AAADM certification (or willingness to obtain – company-sponsored)

Previous experience in automatic door installation/repair or related trade (electrical, mechanical, locksmith, etc.)

Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, low-voltage systems, and mechanical components

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturer specifications

Skilled with specialized tools for installation and repair

Excellent troubleshooting, time management, and customer service skills

Ability to work independently or in teams on multiple projects

Capable of lifting heavy equipment and working in varied weather conditions

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
