Job DescriptionPosition Description: Summary of Position: Lead Teacher

The Lead Teacher at Starrett Early Learning Center is responsible for creating a positive learning environment for children in UPK 3 and UPK 4 classes. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in early childhood education and knowledge of Department of Education and Department of Mental Health and Hygiene regulations. The Lead Teacher must meet the Department of Educations teacher qualification requirements and demonstrate strong leadership, effective classroom management, and the ability to develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the individual developmental needs of students.
Essential Functions:
\tCollaborates with the team and maintains effective classroom management.
\tCompletes mandatory child abuse training and a minimum of 15 hours of yearly professional development.
\tLearn, manage and implement Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold.
\tEnsures student and parent confidentiality is maintained as per programs policy.
\tEnsures compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintains a clean and safe classroom.
\tDevelops and implements lesson plans, assessing student progress and providing regular reports.
\tDifferentiate instructional strategies to reflect diverse classroom learners
\tUnderstands and supports the varying developmental levels of students
\tMeets with parents to discuss student progress at least three times annually.
\tManages student safety, supervision, classroom organization, and cleanliness.
Education / Work Requirements:
\tA valid NYS teaching license or certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2), Pre-K-6, or Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2).
\tA Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
\tCompletion of all Department of Health and Department of Educations compliances, fingerprints and certifications.
Requirements & Competencies:
\tComplete and current medical with all immunizations to include T-Dap, MMR, Varicella and TB.
\tAbility to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
\tStrong teamwork, communication, time management, and classroom management skills.
\tProficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, Microsoft).
\tAbility to maintain confidentiality and exhibit discretion in sensitive matters.
\tFlexibility
Language Skills:
\tAbility to read, interpret, and communicate effectively through written and verbal reports.
Reasoning Ability:
\tCapable of solving practical problems and adapting to changing situations with discretion and confidentiality.
Physical Demands:
