Job DescriptionRole and Responsibilities:
The Manager of R&D will lead the development, optimization, and scaling of new and existing product formulas. This role requires a strong understanding of ingredient science, formulation chemistry, and consumer trends. You'll collaborate cross-functionally, working closely with external partners such as flavor houses and CROs, and spend significant time in the lab formulating and testing.
What You'll Do:Formula Development & Optimization:

Develop and optimize formulas across the product portfolio

Lead external R&D initiatives with CROs and flavor houses

Maintain up-to-date formula documentation and ingredient specifications
-
Build and maintain a clear Point of View (PoV) on ingredient sourcing and formulation best practices

Work closely with Operations to optimize formulas and processes for scale
Sensory Evaluation:

Conduct sensory testing (flavor, texture, appearance, solubility)

Use consumer feedback to refine existing products and develop new ones

Perform lab experiments to ensure product consistency and quality
Market & Ingredient Intelligence:

Stay on top of emerging ingredients and scientific research

Identify opportunities to enhance product efficacy and taste

Analyze competitor offerings and market trends
Compliance & Quality Assurance:

Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations

Maintain a clean and organized lab environment

Work proactively to meet or exceed quality standards
What You'll Bring:

3+ years of experience in food science, preferably in sleep-aid or dietary supplements R&D

Strong curiosity for food tech and new ingredients

Experience partnering with external vendors, especially flavor houses

High attention to detail and scientific rigor

Ability to use data to inform strategic decisions

Hands-on approach to problem solving and execution

Strong communication and collaboration skills across functions

Proactive, low-ego mindset with a focus on team and product success
