Overview: Resurrection House Inc. provides shelter services to Single Males and appropriate transitional housing for homeless women and children. We operate a shelter that supports six males in an emergency shelter setting and 13 families in transitional affordable housing. The Handyman/Maintenance/Driver is supervised and reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities: To be a positive role model for the individuals within our program and to ensure their safety and well-being. To ensure the basic physical maintenance of the shelter and houses.
General Duties:
· Performs preventive building maintenance duties, including minor repairs, to ensure the shelter and transitional apartments are well-maintained.
· Completes work orders in a timely fashion
· Checks control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
· Completes minor plumbing repairs such as dripping pipes
· Installs appliances and equipment
· Conducts maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, painting, caulking, patching walls, etc.
· Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems
· Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. Smoke detectors/carbon monoxide)
· Accept and transport deliveries of supplies and other program materials for shelter, food pantry, and transitional houses.
· Assist in inventory control
· Provide backup in emergency safety situations.
· Drive Shelter residents to appointments as necessary
· Collaborate with workers during renovations and repairs by outside vendors
· Report to the Executive Director for issues that can’t be easily resolved.
· Perform other duties as required.
- Must be able to lift 50lb or more.
