Shift: Nights – 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM (Rotating weekends and holidays may apply)

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Clinical Lab Technologist with Blood Bank experience for a 13-week contract assignment in a fast-paced acute care setting. The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of recent experience in transfusion services and strong technical knowledge in blood banking procedures and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and complex testing in the Blood Bank, including blood typing, crossmatching, and antibody identification
- Maintain accurate documentation of results and procedures
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain lab instrumentation
- Ensure compliance with quality control and safety standards
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to support patient care
- Participate in shift hand-offs and maintain clear communication across teams
- Adhere to all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Skills:
- Proficiency in immunohematology and transfusion services
- Experience with automated and manual testing procedures
- Familiarity with lab instrumentation and analyzers (e.g., centrifuges, incubators, blood bank refrigerators)
- Strong understanding of blood compatibility, component preparation, and antibody panels
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Effective communication with clinical teams and other lab staff
Requirements:
License:
- Valid Clinical Laboratory Technologist License issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) – Primary Source Verification required
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Clinical Lab Technologist in a Blood Bank or transfusion services environment
