Job DescriptionPosition Summary
Queens Community House (QCH) is seeking a mission-driven Adult Education Program Manager to oversee the daily operations of our daytime ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and ABE (Adult Basic Education) programs. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized, culturally competent professional passionate about adult education and workforce integration for immigrants. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of the unique barriers faced by adult learners, particularly in language acquisition and employment, and a commitment to equity, empowerment, and lifelong learning.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of the Adult Education program, ensuring alignment with contract deliverables, program goals, and funder requirements.

Supervise the Program Assistant in managing student attendance and timely data entry into ASISTS and other databases.

Manage intake and registration processes, including BEST Plus and TABE assessments; maintain accurate digital student records.

Collaborate with the Senior Director and Case Manager to design and implement a graduate tracking system, fostering long-term engagement with alumni.

Develop and manage student recruitment strategies and outreach efforts, including partnership building with community-based organizations.

Coordinate class assignments, rosters, and placements, working closely with instructors and administrative staff.

Ensure instructional continuity by organizing lesson plans and substitute coverage during staff absences.

Represent the program in funder meetings and trainings, and participate in internal committees and initiatives.

Complete annual professional development plans for self and direct reports.

Manage personal schedule and submit timecards through ADP by agency policies.

Perform additional duties as needed to support program success and team goals.
Required Skills & Competencies

Strong project management and organizational skills

Excellent written and verbal communication

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and database systems (e.g., ASISTS, DYCD Connect)

Data analysis skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights

Experience with digital communication tools (iOS/Android, email, text, etc.)

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish or Russian is strongly preferred
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required (foreign credentials accepted)

Minimum of 5 years of experience in adult education, workforce development, or nonprofit program management

In-depth understanding of adult learning principles and immigrant workforce integration challenges

Experience conducting student assessments and managing class placements

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, multicultural team

Flexibility to work occasional evenings, as needed

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism
