Location: Oneonta, NY
Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Flexible)
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Pay: $15.84 to $18.61/hour (based on experience and benefit status)
Evening Shift Bonus: Additional $1.50/hour!

Chestnut Park Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking a dependable Custodian to join our Maintenance and Housekeeping Department. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.
If you have experience in floor care—especially stripping, waxing, and buffing—and take pride in keeping environments clean and sanitary, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities:

Clean and maintain floors (tile, vinyl, carpet) using auto scrubbers, buffers, and burnishers

Strip, wax, and buff floors regularly

Clean and sanitize hallways, public areas, dining rooms, soiled linen and housekeeping rooms

Dispose of medical waste and garbage per protocol

Handle spills, clogged toilets, and other urgent maintenance tasks
-
Assist with deliveries, minor repairs, painting, curtain changes, and seasonal tasks (e.g., window cleaning, snow removal)

Maintain custodian equipment and complete monthly inventory of floor care supplies

Follow all safety and infection control guidelines
Qualifications:

Prior experience with floor care (stripping/waxing) required

Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods

Familiarity with cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards

Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and meet Department of Health requirements
