Job Title: Cat Scan Tech
Department: Imaging
Location: Massena Hospital
Hours Per Week: per diem
Schedule: 8 hour variable shift
SUMMARY: he CT Tech is responsible for performing high-quality CT scans in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols. This role involves preparing and positioning patients, operating CT equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and producing accurate diagnostic images for interpretation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reads charts, prescriptions and radiology requests to ascertain the existence of valid physician orders for diagnostic computerized tomography procedures.

Obtains pertinent clinical information and follows special physician requests noted on prescriptions.

Prepares contract media according to physician's order or departmental policy.

Assures proper patient identify prior to performing procedure.

Initiates life support measures for patients as necessary.

Lifts and moves patients with assistance, immobilizes patients as necessary.

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs diagnostic computerized tomography procedures at a technical level.

Identifies disease abnormalities and physiological processes while performing C.T. scans with initiative to obtain additional scan, view or other technical factors as required to provide maximum information for the Radiologist.

Selects technical factors and imaging modes on an individual patient basis.

Practices aseptic technique.

Per physician’s orders, administers or inject intravenous contrast media which is limited to the placement or insertion of a needle or catheter, not exceeding three inches in length and not above the level of the axilla into a person’s upper extremity
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an AMA approved program in Radiological Technology

Current New York State licensure or permit to practice as a Radiological Technologist.

Requires ability to think and act quickly in order to deliver efficient, quality patient care.

Requires good reading and deductive skills in order to interpret physician requests and effectively solve problems.

Requires sufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills to deal with apprehensive patients in a professional and compassionate manner.

Requires positive and effective communication skills for interaction with physicians and staff in emotionally charged situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE:
$31.80 - $42.99
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
