The Maintenance Operations Assistant is responsible for supporting a broad range of functions, including fleet maintenance, deliveries and simple assemblies.
Essential Job Functions
- Completes fleet maintenance activities for agency vehicles as assigned.
- Maintain fleet spreadsheets and schedules for routine and preventative maintenance and annual inspections to ensure compliance.
- Ensure all vehicles have valid insurance cards and registrations.
- Obtain handicap parking tags from the Town Clerk in the Town of Somers for vehicles used to transport clients.
- Return license plates from off-lease vehicles to the OMV
- Use the automated purchasing system (E-Requester) to order and receive materials as assigned.
- Purchase and deliver laundry soap, bottled water and other necessary supplies.
- Set up printers, computers, and related equipment.
- Replace ink cartridges.
- Pick up and deliver Opengate property (such as computers, cell phones, printers, etc.).
- Provide backup support to the Maintenance Department as needed.
- Participation in the Adopt-A-Highway program along Warren Street.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- High School diploma or GED and 1 year experience in maintenance or operations support.
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- A valid New York State driver's license is required.
- Computer skills, including Outlook, Excel and Word
- Strong customer service background preferred.
Physical Requirements
- This position is a non-sedentary role; requires a lot of time standing and walking.
- Able to lift 50 or more pounds. The ability to turn, lift and assist individuals with movement.
- This position operates in a professional office environment and may require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, maintain balance on a platform or ladder, and bend and crawl into awkward spaces when needed
Salary - $19.25 - $20.50
Compensation will be commensurate with job qualifications and work experience.
