Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated RF Engineer with a strong background in DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems) and Small Cell Network (SCN) design, optimization, and implementation. This position supports the RF Engineering team throughout the sales, deployment, and maintenance lifecycle, ensuring high-performance wireless systems in dense urban and suburban environments.

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of EMS platforms, antenna theory, and RF optimization techniques, and be able to work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop DAS and small cell wireless network solutions based on customer requirements and site conditions.
  • Utilize empirical and predictive RF design tools to generate design plans, including link budgets, coverage simulations, and performance analysis.
  • Conduct field work such as CW testing, drive testing, and system validation.
  • Operate and analyze RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and pilot scanners.
  • Review and configure EMS systems for remote monitoring and network optimization.
  • Perform RF and fiber testing, troubleshooting, and support closeout documentation.
  • Create and review RF design packages including site selection, network schematics, and customer-facing documents.
  • Support the NOC team with troubleshooting network performance issues and participating in new technology trials.
  • Coordinate and oversee optimization activities for multi-node SCN systems, ensuring KPI compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, sales, and deployment teams to ensure design feasibility and performance goals are met.
  • Communicate clearly with vendors, field engineers, and customers on design expectations, system performance, and network enhancements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; Master’s preferred (MSEE).
  • Experience: 2–4 years in RF Engineering with practical experience in DAS and Small Cell systems.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Solid understanding of RF theory, antenna propagation, and optical transmission.
  • Experience with tools such as iBwave, MapInfo, ATOLL, Planet, TEMS, or equivalent.
  • Proficient in MS Excel (mid to advanced level, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and RF analysis sheets).
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies (2G, 3G, 4G, LTE).
  • Familiarity with link budget calculations, noise figure estimations, and intermodulation analysis.
  • Experience with EMS and network monitoring platforms.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in fiber splicing, RF optimization, or small cell commissioning.
  • Understanding of zoning and permitting processes.
  • Experience collaborating with external vendors and internal NOC teams.
  • Familiarity with CW, benchmark, and post-processing tools (e.g., XCAP, Windcatcher, Actix).

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid work schedule: Monday and Friday – Remote, Tuesday to Thursday – Onsite
  • Occasional travel to sites in the NY Metro area (~1x/week)
  • Fast-paced, collaborative, and technical environment
